Radiators seems to be a common problem, I have a 2004 Dodge SX 2.0 rad went blew out the tranny lines @ 64,000 kms, towed to dealer cost me 1k to repair, holding my breath waiting to hear back from Chrysler Canada... how they respond now will determine if I remain a loyal Chrysler customer.

I have a 2004 SX and my sister owns a 2005.

Our steering columns started to smoke at the same km range..

We had to pull our fog light fuse to stop the clicking from the relay and smoking.

No fires please. Strong running cars, hope it's not some small problem that kills it.

So I'm looking at buying a 2004 SX 2.0 SE. After reading the comments, I've noticed that most of you guys drive automatic. What with the radiator and transmission problems, my father's 99 Neon has 180k on it, and the only problem is that the head gasket went a good five or six years ago. My friend's got a 2000, no problems there.

Oh, and all of us drive stick, so that might contribute to the fact that there has been nothing else problem wise, and looking at the stats, the gas mileage for manual is way better then for auto. 9.3L/100k city and 6.7L/100k highway for auto. My friend's 2005 Sport gets about five hundred k a tank (auto), my father's 99 gets about six hundred... and it's 8.0L/100k city and 5.9L/100k highway for manual. So again it's probably about six hundred a tank with the manual. Another reason to drive stick.

Cheers.

Hi, I have a 2004 Dodge SX 2.0 and it's been the worst car I ever bought.

I have had problems with this car from the beginning. I have just about changed everything on this car.

It has a new (rebuilt) motor, which was covered under my warranty except for the $100 deductible.

New (rebuilt) transmission, which the dealer paid for, because when my radiator went and the fluids mixed, they told me that my transmission would be good after they flushed it. A few months down the road, Xmas Eve, I was stranded on the highway with my 2 year old son, and had the car towed, which cost me $100. I had warned them that if I had to come back here because of my transmission, that I was not paying for their mistake. Lucky for me they decided to cover the cost & labor of the transmission.

I had to take it back, because apparently the mechanic had put in something backwards, and when I put it in gear, it would grind and the car would shake.

Anyhow, enough of my problems. I have learned my lesson, and I will NEVER buy another Dodge again. Good Luck.

I had the same problem with the car -- radiator went at 60,500 km (just after bumper to bumper warranty expired) and the radiator fluid mixed with the tranny fluid and killed the tranny. Wasn't the tranny's fault, therefore no tranny warranty.

I bought my Dodge SX 2.0 in 2003, and have done my regular maintenance and changed the tires.

I LOVE my car! I live in Saskatchewan and can't plug it in at work, and it always starts (-35c).

I have never been suck in the snow.

My husband is 6'4 and is very comfortable in it for long trips. My parents have one too, and they too love theirs.

It's too bad that they don't make them any more; I have friends who wish they had one.

I previously owned a 98 Neon that served me very well up until it was totaled in a car accident. I then bought a 04 SX and it's been one of the best cars I've ever owned, very reliable and has never given me a problem in the year I've owned it.

It's up over 90,000km now and still has all the original parts and has never been brought in for anything. I do all my own maintenance such as oil changes etc. and it still runs as beautifully as the day I got it.

I would highly recommend this car to anyone who's looking to buy.

Jan 5 2011.

I had the same problem with my 2004 SX, 1 month after getting it the radiator blew, they replaced it 3 month down the road my tranny went and I was stranded for 6 hours.

They said the problem was solved, now 1 year later it's back with the same problem for the tranny.

I bought it in August of 2009, nice car, good on gas but never again will I buy a Dodge.

I bought a 2004 SX 2.0 in 2005 brand new off the lot with 0 km.

I have also had a problem with the radiator when the tranny lines blew out at 100000km. Luckily the transmission was fine. I also just had a problem with it not starting once in a while with a check engine light. I checked the codes; it showed a p0340, which means camshaft position sensor. I replaced the sensor, and it starts without the engine light.

Great car!!
