1983 Dodge Van B150 Van Wagon review from North America
"Excellent utility vehicle, good reliability, timeless looks"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Differential, due to lubrication failure from leaky rear differential cover.
Engine replaced at 180,000 miles. Impending rod bearing failure.
Radio failed on FM band at 250,000 miles.
All seats recovered at 225,000 miles. Swapped front seats to reclining models from later model van.
Painted several times.
Fuel pump failed at 175,000 miles.
Starter failed at 200,000 miles.
General comments?
The window van is used daily for school trips, shopping, and other errands.
The rear passenger seats are easily removed, and motorcycles can be loaded inside. Tie-downs affix to seat anchors.
Forward visibility is excellent, maneuverability is adequate, especially if outside rear view mirrors are used well.
Around town gas mileage with 318 motor is 10-12 MPG, with 15-17 MPG on highway at 65 MPH.
Wish I had Sure-Grip locking differential.
