2016 Fiat Ducato 35 Maxi L2H2 2.3 Multijet from Denmark

Summary:

Good machine, effective, useful for work

Faults:

Around 100,000 km the clutch problems started, it was very noisy when pressed, luckily it was nothing more than that so it didn't need to be replaced.

Typical electronic problems in a modern vehicle: the oil lights come on every now and then even if there's no shortage of oil, so as long as it's not a specific problem, I don't give it any importance; it doesn't affect performance either.

In my case I travel a lot on the road and I had the previous trucks serviced every 15,000 km, since I drive on all highways, but oh surprise, on this one it must be serviced every 7,500 km, otherwise the oil pressure light comes on (flashes continuously ) and therefore one is forced to go to a dealership to have it reset (a specialized mechanic can do it but it is better to do it at an official dealership).

General Comments:

It's quite comfortable, although the seats are a bit hard for me. The ride is smooth and it's very easy to maneuver. It's a great vehicle for both cruising and work, very reliable, and has excellent brakes. The suspension is finely tuned to be both engaging and comfortable to drive, and the steering is just right for a large van, so you don't have to fight it around every corner.

It handles really well on the highway at speeds of 130 km/h or more.

The van's space is truly spacious, very useful for work. Due to its versatility, it's one of the most popular camper vans in Europe. It's also galvanized, a big difference from the Sprinter I had, so rust isn't a problem; this is especially important if you live in a cold and humid climate.

I must also say that it is indeed economical when travelling at 100 or 110 km/h, but above that speed the consumption increases, although not too much, but it is not advisable to drive it at higher speeds, taking into account that due to the advanced nature of the engine it requires the use of the highest quality diesel. However, it consumes much less fuel than vans of the same size such as the Transit or the Sprinter.

Being one of the cheapest vans on the market, it is an economical vehicle of acceptable quality.

2019 Fiat Ducato L2H1 2.2 Multijet B22 turbo diesel from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Everything I want in a van

Faults:

Problems with the air conditioning shortly after purchasing it; luckily nothing complicated that I couldn't solve.

The clutch made noise, it is something secondary but annoying. Sometimes the malfunction light comes on, even if there is no operating problem.

General Comments:

The truck is surprisingly agile, fast, brakes very well, and the engine has very good output. It is very easy to drive both on the road and in the city. Added to the smoothness of the ride, it is a very safe van, you can go at speeds above 150 km/h without noticing any differences compared to a car.

No rust problems so far, especially living in a climate prone to that. Average consumption is near 6.0 L/100 km, more than enough for a van of its size, which makes it special for long distances. As for work, it moves very easily even when it has high loads, this particular model can load up to 2000 kg. An ideal vehicle for work, it does not have expensive parts and it has simple mechanics despite being new.

The Ducato has reliability and safety, something that many Fiat vehicles in Australia have not had.

Reading the review, I was really impressed by the low fuel consumption. Only 6L/100 km is very low for a mid-to-large van like this.

While Ducatos are known for their low fuel consumption, this one seems to be too economical. No wonder it's one of the best selling and popular vans in Europe, where fuel prices are much higher than in Australia.
