1984 Ford Capri 1.6LS Modified to 2.0i from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Bang for Buck the best there is!

Faults:

Usual teething troubles when trying to fit an engine into a car that wasnt designed for it.

Nothing goes wrong that hasn't been altered!

General Comments:

This car is the most fun I have owned, and though being constantly modified, it remains usable as a daily driver. 2.1 injection engine being built in garage, to replace my tired 2.0 injection in the car.

Don't let anyone tell you different, Capri's CAN Handle. They were not too stable from the factory, but a few simple alterations lets them out to their full potential. Can keep up with modern hot hatches in the corners all day long without breaking a sweat.

Only time a Capri will lose out to cars like that is in the wet, but that is when you can have some real fun.

Old, Dated, but brilliant fun, something you can't buy in the showrooms for less than £40k.

1984 Ford Capri Laser 2.0 petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Nothing at all! In 24,000 miles! Now has over 130,000 on the clock.

General Comments:

Bought this car for £850, kept it a year, sold it for £750.

Cheap to run (30mpg driven hard), very quick (fast road cam), very comfortable recaros (from 280 special).

Best car you can buy for the money.

Nothing went wrong in 24,000 miles, it gripped in the dry (limpet) and was fun in the wet (black ice is grippier).

Only downside was police attention - lots of it!

Love this car - why can't Ford go back to making simple fast cars like this?
