1986 Ford Capri 2.0 Laser 2.0 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Worth getting out of bed for (except if it's cold and wet)

Faults:

Drive belt replaced day after I bought it.

Heated Rear Screen didn't work.

WD40 required when the weather's a bit cold!

General Comments:

The best car that my £250 could have bought me at the time. It was almost as old as me and yet it started pretty much all the time and never died on me.

If you want to cruise to College and receive respect from all who see you, then get a Capri. I actually got girls who I didn't know come up to me and ask for a ride up the road and back!

The insurance was a little scary, but 18 year old males aren't supposed to drive cars like this. Still, all good things must come to an end and for me it was a very abrupt halt! After 2,500 fantastic miles, the car overheated and oil exploded everywhere. I still managed to sell it for what I paid though!

1986 Ford Capri Laser 1.6 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A fantastic, head-turning car for peanuts

Faults:

Since I have owned my Capri, nothing has gone wrong. I have serviced her on a regular basis and this has ensured she always started first time, every time.

General Comments:

I have binned the original 1600 Pinto engine as at 140,000 miles it was going to begin to get tired and show it's age.

My car now has a 2000 Double Overhead Camshaft, fuel injected engine taken from a 1992 Granada.

Her brakes have been uprated to Billet 4-pots with drilled and grooved discs accompanied by EBC Green-stuff pads.

I have a complete 2.8i interior taken from a sub 50,000 car.

Body-wise, she has a Motor-sport front spoiler, CCI Turbo-tail, chrome racing mirrors and she has been de-bumpered.
