1992 Ford Capri XR2 1.6 turbo from North America

Summary:

Perfect, quick, little sports car

Faults:

Clutch had to be replaced two months after I got it.

I needed a new timing belt at about 145,000 thousand miles.

Power windows do not always work.

Valve cover gasket leaks.

Tires go bald very fast - my fault.

Headlights do not go up after I put them down.

Soft top has a lot of wear and tear and leaks in the rain.

Brakes went bad at 145,650 thousand miles.

Shifter dropped to the floor, fixed with a zippy tie.

Windshield has three spider cracks around the rear-view mirror.

Engine just started knocking at 146,000 thousand miles.

General Comments:

The car is awesome and is very quick.

It beats most of the cars in my town.

The parts are cheap, but they are hard to find.

The car itself is very affordable.

Perfect little sports car.

1992 Ford Capri XR2 1.6 L turbo from North America

Summary:

Outperforms cars costing five times as much!

Faults:

Driver's side headlight motor.

Leather steering wheel peels in heat.

General Comments:

Although the turbo lags in first gear, overall acceleration is excellent. For a cute rag-top, this car has serious muscle.

Suspension and handling are remarkable, but occasionally rough at low speeds.

Altogether, this car is eye-catching, and ferociously fast when opened up. Two thumbs up for the Aussie born Ford!
