1991 Ford Granada Ghia X review from UK and Ireland
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Rear dampers got soft at 75,000 miles but this is to be expected as the car is often carrying a high weight in the boot, and is also used for towing.
The headlights are always a bit poor on dipped beam on Granada's (Scorpio shape), but the main beams are fine.
The drivers side heated seat stopped heating at 95,000 miles, but now appears to be working again (at 110,0000)?
Other than that, no problems.
General comments?
The twin cam engine is a vast improvement on the single cam which I owned previously. The fuel consumption is fair for the size of engine. (It depends on how you drive it).
Mine averages 37 mpg but this can go up to 44-5 mpg on a steady run at 65 - 70 mph. It drops to 28 mpg towing a 24cwt twin axle caravan.
If you bought a fairly new model a year or three ago, because of the high depreciation on the price from new, the cost is very cheap for what you get.
I would rate this model as Fords best kept secret, now sadly replaced by the 'ugly frog'.
