1983 Ford LTD Country Squire Wagon 5.0 from North America

Summary:

The Wagon Queen Family Truckster (Like in National Lampoon's Vacation)

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

You know the movie National Lampoons Vacation, the Wagon Queen Family Truckster. Well this is it. One word to describe the appearance, ugly. Performance? Awesome. Gas mileage? Lets not talk about that.

It just keeps on running so I guess I'll keep driving it. It tops out at 70 MPH. It is really scary though because the whole thing shakes and wobbles. I took the power steering off cause that broke at 275,000 miles.

Some advice that I have used with this car, don't spend more money than the car is worth. If that means if your mirror fell off, just slap some duct tape on there and she will last a little longer. What does every one think I should do? Haul her to the bone pile or drive it till the wheels fall off, which should happen in the next couple of years. Still, it is the best car because it has held up after going through many beatings.

Update on the car. I now have 500,000 miles just today. The 302 now uses oil pretty bad. Gas mileage at about 13,14 mpg. It's color is an ugly green that looks like the Metallic Pea on the Movie National Lampoons Vacation. The fake wooden sides are awesome. Too bad Ford still doesn't make a wagon like the LTD. The body may rust out, but the motor keeps on going.

1983 Ford LTD V6 3.8L from North America

Summary:

Will this car die?

Faults:

Takes a little long to warm up in very cold weather. Acceleration from 0-10 is not that good.

General Comments:

This car doesn't have any rust, always starts even at -25C, seats are still very clean, can't complain for 600$can!!

1983 Ford LTD Brougham 3.8 V6 from North America

Summary:

Will run nicely if it was taken care of properly

Faults:

Small things here and there. Engine and transmission have only been opened up and rebuilt once in 17 years of city driving. Still fairly quiet & smooth and actually pretty good on torque for being an old V6.
