1973 Ford Maverick Sedan 302 C.I. from North America

Summary:

A perfect automobile for it's time!

Faults:

Replaced the EGR valve and plate due to rust.

Replaced heater core due to one small pin hole leak.

Replace the power steering slave cylinder. It was 30 years old and created a slight shimmy in the front end.

General Comments:

The car is absolutely a dream to own.

Her name is Shirley and she still rides like she's floating on cotton.

The engine has never been rebuilt and yet still out performs newer modern cars.

If I could find another like her, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

I'm 15 and I've had my 1973 maverick grabber since I was 12 and I think that they are and awsome reliable car to own... plus if you work it right you will eat up any rice burner in town.

1973 Ford Maverick 250 6 cylinder from North America

Summary:

A pretty bargin!

Faults:

The paint chalked on the driver side door during second year. Rear seating split at seams during second year as well.

General Comments:

With out a doubt the best car my family ever had.

The 1961 Falcon was so darn good as well.

Two great cars, both heavily relied apon and required minimal service.

The Maverick also had outstanding styling. A great looking car!

1973 Ford Maverick 200 straight-6 from North America

Summary:

Looking for another one, wish I hadn't sold it!!!

Faults:

I replaced the following:

Carburetor, was starting to stall when gas fully applied.

Master Cylinder, when it leaked against firewall.

Clutch, three on the tree made for abuse on the clutch.

Distributor, after getting a miss on idle.

Valve cover gasket, after an oil leak at rear of engine.

Alternator, wasn't giving high enough charge at idle.

General Comments:

All of the things I replaced were the original Ford factory parts, that after 20 years should be replaced any way.

Never had a problem with the car starting, even in the coldest of weather.

The car held its own on the road as far as speed, handling, comfort and drive ability.
