1998 Ford Maverick GLS 2.7 turbo diesel from UK and Ireland

Summary:

The best 4x4

Faults:

Driver side rear door handle sticking a bit (sorted it out myself).

Other than that, no other faults in over 40,000 miles.

Regular servicing really does pay off!!

General Comments:

The Maverick was one Ford that British buyers never really took to their hearts. I can't think why, it was all there; the styling, the performance, the reliability.

I find it hard to fault the Maverick.

PERFORMANCE

For a 4x4, the Maverick is seriously quick, and although it isn't the best car for cornering, at least it can go round a one on four wheels (which is more than I can say for the Land Rover Range Rover).

LOOKS

The chrome front grille and mirror, and the smooth car like styling make the Maverick look fabulous.

And I believe it looks better than many of its competitors (Land Rover Discovery, Daewoo Musso, And even the Mercedes G Wagon).

PRICING

I paid £5000 for my Maverick, which I now know was a slight bit steep, but I would pay it again if I had to for another in the same condition.

However in the present time, expect to pay between 2000GBP-3000GBP (PARKERS).

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
