2006 Ford Ranger XL 3.0 from North America

Summary:

Great buy for anyone

Faults:

Nothing, I have had very good service with this vehicle. It is a very reliable vehicle.

I pull a 1200 lb boat with this vehicle all the time with no problems.

My Ranger is a 4x4 standard shift with a 3.0 engine. No problems, and I have over 60,000 miles on it.

I change oil every 4000 miles, and keep general maintenance up, nothing else.

General Comments:

Good truck for the money.

2006 Ford Ranger XLT 2.5 turbo diesel from Malaysia

Summary:

Unpretentious and good value for money

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

It is not very comfortable, but I knew it would not be before I bought it. It is very easy to handle with a responsive engine and reasonable acceleration. The instrumentation could be better as the fog light switch and rear window demister switch are hidden by the spokes of the steering wheel. However, it fulfills my requirements more than adequately, I enjoy driving it, I like the visibility one gets from being high up and find the engine substantially better than my previous pick-up, a Mitsubishi L200.

Overall I am very happy with it.

Summary:

Like it or loath it, no one ignores it

Faults:

None.

General Comments:

Very happy with this truck. One of the last mark 2

Rangers. It's the Ford Ranger Wildtrak; leather seats, climate control, roller shutter on the back,

all the chrome bull bars, side steps.

Tows very well too.

2006 Ford Ranger Sport Regular Cab 3.0 litre V6 from North America

Summary:

The ONLY choice in a small truck

Faults:

I have yet to encounter any problems of any kind with this truck.

General Comments:

This my 4th Ranger, and it has the same solid, quality feel that my previous three had. I have never had a single problem with any previous Ranger and do not anticipate any with this one.

My previous vehicle (prior to purchasing this truck in January of 2006) was a 2001 Dodge Dakota. I was very pleased with it, but Dodge no longer offers a regular cab Dakota, and I do not find the new styling as attractive. In looking at all the competition, both foreign and domestic, I found the styling of the Ranger to be the most appealing. It may be dated, but it has always been a very well-designed small truck.

I find the power of the 3.0 litre V-6 to be very adequate, and the ride is smooth for a small truck.

The handling is direct and precise, and the brakes do a good job of bringing it to a safe and controlled stop.

My only regret with my new Ranger Sport is the very barren, plain interior and lack of full instrumentation. I know the Sport model is designed to be a rugged and durable vehicle, but the lack of carpeting and hard plastic interior door panels are depressing after the plush, carpeted interior of my previous truck (the Dodge Dakota).

In all I would highly recommend the Ranger to anyone looking for a good, dependable and high-quality small truck. Before Purchasing this truck I looked at a number of both American and Japanese small trucks. The bizarre styling and astronomical prices of the imports turned me off, and I found the styling of the new Dakota, Colorado and Canyon not to my liking either. To me, the Ranger is the ONLY choice in a small truck.

I too own a '06 Ford Ranger Sport regular cab. It's a 2WD with the 4.10 limited-slip differential. This is a good truck.

Ford has been manufacturing Rangers for what, 20 years? They have all the bugs worked out as far as I am concerned.

I actually have a question for those of you who own an '06 Ford Ranger (preferably XLT model, I am unaware if there will be a difference in this information depending upon the model). Do any of you happen to know the maximum speed on the Ford Ranger? I am doing research on different cars and companies and this information does not seem to be posted on the Internet, at least not in a portion that is easily accessed. Thank you.
