I was actually going to agree with the above comment. Im thinking that you just got a bad one (Which DOES happen with Honda and Toyota too, believe it or not). I'm not a huge Ford Fan, but the Taurus is probably one of the most reliable vehicles out there. Just looking at consumer reports and such will tell you that. I don't mean to offend anyone, but that's just the information I've found. I know that everyone has different experiences with their vehicles, but if you look around, you;ll find that there is more positive comments about the Taurus than negative. I do however, feel for you that you have had such a bad experience. Hope things look up for you!

I'm no expert, but when I read the original review it sounds as though that car was a flood vehicle, but with only 44 original miles when purchased, who knows? The problems sound similar to my aunt's Toyota that was caught in a flash flood.

Tauruses are just a big hassle! Or have we just got a bad one? With 115,000 miles in the past 2 years my wife has owed one, I have put 100% more time into working on her car than my 94 Camaro. A new air compressor, water pump, thermostat, alternator, and the transmission has had a problem ever since we bought it, and now there is a weird engine noise that just started, plus the air bag light came on not too long ago. When she puts it into drive before the engine is warm, the transmission would make a horrible cluck and lunge forward. Not saying this is the worst car ever. I know there are a lot of Tauruses out there that will do just fine, but I would look the other way when looking for a nice, affordable, and reliable vehicle.

I own a 2002 Ford Explorer Limited with 116,000 miles on it.

Soon after we bought it, we began having problems with electricals. After turning the engine off, the radio has a mind of its own... it will change stations, go to CD, or crank the volume up without anyone touching it!

As soon as the door is opened it stops. Sometimes when the rear defroster is turned on, the interior lights will turn on and the information center will display "door ajar". These are just a few of the problems that we have with this vehicle, but I still won't condemn the whole company for bad products.

We still love this vehicle's dependability, and have owned and still own other manufacturer's vehicles, which can be (and are) riddled with just as many problems!

Ford is still one of the best "Bang for your buck" manufacturers, and overall their vehicles are reliable and dependable! We purchased a used Taurus wagon for our oldest daughter to drive when she got her license, and we are doing the same again now three years later for the next oldest! Good car!

I have a 94 Ford Exp. with 4.0 214.000. It runs like a new one. It is the best 6 cylinder they made.
