1990 GMC Safari SLE 3 DR PASS VAN 4.3L from North America

Summary:

I love it even though it's an older van..

Faults:

Previously owned by a construction company. They had it serviced regularly. The trans axle rear was replaced recently due to heavy loads on regular basis.

General Comments:

The previous owner retired this van last fall and purchased another GMC Safari. It was sitting for 8 months and started once a week for a bit. I found it on Friday May 14, 2004. I test-drove it... went back Saturday and bought it... took it through Air Care and it passed as usual with flying colors. So far, it's the best vehicle I've ever driven. I love the feel of it so much better than the '92 Mustang I've been driving for 12 years.

1990 GMC Safari SLE 4.3 liter V-6 from North America

Summary:

A great vehicle at a great price

Faults:

Most of the following repairs occurred after reaching a 100K miles:

Replaced the water pump.

Replaced the alternator.

Replaced the insulator block under the throttle body.

Had the headliner replaced and the front seats recovered.

Replaced the front rotors and had the rear drums turned during a complete brake job.

Tanks on radiator cracked, so I had the radiator cleaned and new tanks installed.

At about 70K miles I had new shocks installed.

General Comments:

I've enjoyed driving this van a lot. It's comfortable and very reliable.

While the list of repairs may seem long, it is what I would expect from any vehicle. Nothing lasts forever.

This vehicle never failed me on any of the trips I've taken, to include a 5000 mile round trip to the South West (from Florida).
