2001 Holden Statesman LS1 5.7 Litre from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

You will be gobsmacked when you see how fast she goes

Faults:

Alternator at 120000.

General Comments:

If you're looking for a car with power, this is the car. It has a power button if you need extra power, but it's never needed with the 5.7 litre engine.

It has really bad fuel economy; I get like 20 litres to every 100km, but I love the car way too much to sell it.

It's great for highway driving, but not city traffic.

It does great donuts on the dirt.

I find it a tiny bit jerky in the trans box too, but everyone says it's just a fault from Holden.

2001 Holden Statesman WH S1 3.8 supercharged V6 from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Great value cruiser

Faults:

Radiator.

Front main seal.

Fuel pump.

Alternator.

S/C pulley.

General Comments:

Nice, comfortable big car, although it does look bigger than it really is (which I like!).

I've done mainly trips between Taree, NSW and Brisbane, a few trips to Sydney and one trip to Melbourne. Cruises beautifully at (let's just say; higher than) legal speed limits.

Cruise control is easy to use and has never failed.

I always owned V8s before this, and my main disappointment is the excessive fuel consumption.

I'm told that the L67 supercharged engine is imported complete from the US, and is very slightly different to the 3.8, non S/C engine.

My mother drives a non S/C Calais, of the same vintage, and gets far better economy and performance (freakishly quick for a stock car).

The S/C is not exactly a rocket, but insurance premiums aren't that high either, which reflects that fact.

The front end has just started to become a bit rattly, but with 280000 kms on the clock, you'd expect that.

I think the V8 is a better option (in my experience, more economical on fuel too), but the 6 is still a nice ride.

I added a 10 lb pulley when the original one became unbalanced, but there is very little noticeable increase to the performance.

2001 Holden Statesman WH 5.7 from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

A classic luxury cruiser with power to spare

Faults:

The drivers side seat runner needed replacing, but apart from that, nothing.

General Comments:

More of a luxury sports cruiser than a limo.

Power to spare and extremely fast from 100kph onward.

I would buy another one in a heartbeat.

The only flaw would be the jerkiness of the transmission on fast acceleration.

Just bought my WH Statesman Gen 111 today. Love the ride and the power, and can't believe the room.

2001 Holden Statesman WH petrol from Australia and New Zealand

Faults:

Apart from the drink holder door popping open the only other warranty repair was the front driver side seat runner needing to be replaced.

General Comments:

An extremely big luxurious cruiser with all mod cons including satellite navigation, it's a real wolf in sheep's clothing with horse power to spare. The ride is pure luxury and road noise is barely perceivable. Acceleration from a standing start is nearly neck snapping although the auto trans is little jerky through the changes. I would buy another one in a heartbeat. The 5.7 liter V8 never hesitates when asked to deliver the goods. A high performance bargain.

Awesome car with lots of power and features

Electric drivers seat failed.

Drivers window also failed.

Electric fuel pump failed

Rear tail light blew. All have been repaired.

General Comments:

This car has been a real gem, very comfortable and very smooth to drive. It is luxury to high heaven. It also is very quick as well.

I have covered many k's with it so far and has caused me very little problems it is still in brand new condition as well. I am very impressed with the WH Caprice that I would buy another on in a shot.
