I am 15 years old and I find the UC a very good and reliable car, I have 202 auto and it has done only 80,000kms. I rally it at the Victorian Pacanham auto cross club. I bought the car for $400 with no motor, the engine came from a smashed vb commadore (compliments of me). The interia is in mint condition and the body is pretty damn good but in under coat. (will be a manual soon).

1978 Holden Torana UC 2.8L petrol from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Great car, a simple concept very well executed

Faults:

Very little, new clutch cable at one point, with an engine/gearbox/clutch rebuild at 350,000km.

The body was prone to rust, but liberal applications of fish oil fixed that.

General Comments:

This was one of the most reliable and cost effective cars I have ever owned, beating even my 1959 VW Beetle and 1969 VW Kombi.

The Torana was rugged, had good performance, though handling was suspect in the wet. The 6 cylinder engine was a long lasting, torquey, low revving unit which gave me no trouble and performed well in the medium sized Torana body.
