1996 Honda Accord EX coupe 2 door 2.2 vtec from North America

Summary:

It's only bad if you don't take care of it!!!

Faults:

Nothing notable.

Replaced door "check strap" the metal bracket that keeps the door from opening all the way.

Replaced emissions system, covered by dealer. Full tune up, also covered my dealer. Renton Honda in Seattle, WA has the best service overall.

Tires and other misc stuff.

General Comments:

This is my 5th Honda. I am so happy with this one. I have never been as pleased. I don't really like the 5 speed manual Trans, but it does get up and go. It's a little loud accelerating, but it revs very high with no problems. Honda spells Reliability.

1996 Honda Accord LX 2.2 Liter from North America

Summary:

The car that can get up and go

Faults:

The car has been absolutely solid, except for power accessories like...

The power window on the driver's door will most likely go out in a few days, but I think the window motor is fine. The problem is, the fact that the window gets crooked and creates friction that can be easily aligned.

The driver's power door lock went out, and the dealer said 249.95, which practically made me want to kill myself, and one day I was at a little alarm repair shop, and they said they would fix it for 69.95. But the other day, I was at Target, and all the sudden, my car's power lock relay (for all you non-car inclined people, it's the thing that controls all the locks) had a glitch in it, and I could not get out of my car (how embarrassing), and I was forced to roll down my window, stick the key in the door from the outside and unlock it, and it made this knocking noise, but since then it hasn't done anything else wrong.

General Comments:

My paragraph above about things that went wrong, looks long, but really it's only two things, which if you get them repaired professionally, it will be about 500.00, and trust me on this, just go to your local Honda dealer; they are truly experts, and know what they're doing.

Hey, but don't let that make you think this car is not reliable, no, no, no, this car has never been on a tow except for the time it was in a fender bender in N.Y.C. (New York City), and even then it held up well. The other guy was driving a Hyundai Sonata, and his was so low in value (and it was only 3 1/2 years old) that the insurance company totaled, and it was his fault for the accident.

All around, this is a solid car; it's comfy, and small children are well accommodated in the back, but it's a chore for the adults. And the A/C works awesome, although it does take a while to cool down. But promise me this before you go and buy one, read the new car test drive review of this car by professionals at www.newcartestdrive.com

1996 Honda Accord LX Coupe 2.2L VTEC from North America

Summary:

With gas prices the way they are today, I'm glad I own this and not something bigger!

Faults:

Not much, aside from the oil seal recall back in 2001.

The one nagging problem is the brakes. They are always warped! No matter how many pad and rotors I put on, they warp with in a month or so. This is driving me crazy. I am now looking into up dating the brakes to make those on a 2000 or newer model Accord work on mine, hopefully to solve this problem.

5th gear is very weak compared to some of the other car's I driven. There is not much pull.

General Comments:

This is the most reliable car I've owned.

Doesn't cost a whole lot to fill up at the gas pump either.

I drive the hell out of this car and it keeps on going.

If I ever decide to get rid of this car, and I'm in the market for another regular car, it will probably be another used Honda. I didn't even buy this from a dealer, I wasn't worried about reliability problems before I bought this car.

The only thing wrong in your statement is that if you have an automatic, it is a 4 speed not a 5 speed.
