2018 Honda Civic 5d i-DTEC S 1.6 turbo diesel from Cyprus
Summary:
Excellent, solid and great performance
Faults:
It's hard to talk about faults with this car. This is going on the seventh year I've owned it, and I've only changed the battery once.
The main thing worth mentioning is that the diesel particulate filter once clogged, something quite common in modern diesels, but not a serious issue. When this happens, it's best to leave the city for a while and put a few miles on the road.
General Comments:
It's by far the best car I've ever owned. It's comfortable, spacious, very easy to drive, with top-quality materials. It offers a very balanced ride, with a stable ride and a suspension that, although it can be firm, adapts well to different conditions. It has no rust problems on the bodywork and paint, and the interior plastics are well-made. In the city, it's pleasant thanks to the engine's generous torque, which saves me from having to pay too much attention to the gear shift. Its steering has a good turning radius, making its 4.5-meter length easy to maneuver in parking lots.
On secondary roads, it's a very comfortable car; the steering has excellent feel and is quick and informative enough without any jerkiness.
This is in terms of driving and overall vehicle quality. What stands out most is its great fuel efficiency. It's a car that consumes very little fuel, being especially efficient on the highway, which gives it good range.
As for the engine, the 1.6 i-DTEC is smooth, refined, and fairly quiet. In addition to being agile and fast, it has great performance, is agreeable, and is very good for overtaking. The 6-speed manual transmission is undoubtedly important in reducing consumption, and allows the engine to have an excellent response at low and medium revs. It's truly a shame that Honda has stopped making this engine.
