To All Automatic Honda HX CVT Transmission Owners (Past or Present):

I owned the 2001 Honda HX with CVT. This was clearly a defective transmission. I had it replaced THREE times, and repaired numerous times!!! First time was at only 20,000 miles. All repairs took place before the warranty ended (100,000 miles), so I did not pay out of pocket and I traded the car at a Hyundai dealership for my 2006 Hyundai Sonata (very reliable by the way).

I had contacted a Lemon Law lawyer back in 2006 about the Honda HX CVT, and she told me unless more people came forward, there was nothing they can do, and that it needed to be a class action case. From what I am reading here, I was not the only one to experience these problems. I bought my car brand new for $22,000 and I don't feel I got the life out of it that I should have from a Honda. I wound up trading it for only $5000, 5 years later, and taking on a whole other loan for the new Hyundai.

I still would like to sue Honda for this HX CVT Trans nightmare. Those of you who have paid out of pocket to fix these reoccurring issues with the trans... you must seek justice!! This should not have happened. The CVT trans in the HX's were defective! My dealership admitted this to me after I brought the car in for the 3rd time.

If you would like to join me in a class action suit, please email me at cmerc78atyahoodotcom. Put "Honda CVT Trans" in title.

Just wanted to throw a positive out here. We have a 2000 HX 5 speed, and LOVE her to death. My husband has had it since it was new, and has always done his own maintenance Even changed the timing belt on his own, and he's never been a mechanic... just has the repair manual.

With that being said, we have 251,000 miles on it, and as with many here, the check engine light has been on for over a year because of the O2 sensor.

Aside from typical maintenance issues, we've never had any major problems at all. Perhaps we will have to make a big decision though this year, because it will have to pass smog and the sensor is just too expensive.

As with any car, some will have problems, so I'd never say they all are awesome, but in the same note, I'd never allow anyone to say they all suck either.

We are big fans of the HX, and wish Honda had never stopped making them.
