1980 Honda Civic 5 speed base model from North America - Comments

"I love my 1980 Honda Civic Wagon, wish I owned 5 of them!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

General wear and tear for a 24 year old car. Things replaced in the 4 years I've owned it. Both front axles, water pump, radiator hoses, front and rear brakes. Things that need to be done, seats replaced or re-furbished. I can't really say "things that have gone wrong" it really has been nothing major.

General comments?

This little car with it's little engine, has get up and go like an old dog being taught some new tricks. I paid $1000 for it in 1-2000 and have spent maybe $1000 towards parts and whatnot. I could not ask for a better used car. I would buy another "Japanese Honda" in a heartbeat!

I have had my civic for going on 2 years and I picked it up for 450.00 dollors and I love it I really haven't spent any money fixing it, but I shakes a little bit when braking, but I'm not going to trip on it heck it's a great car, my mom whants to get it off me because it gets really good gas mileage it gets about 40 mpg and with the prices of gas now days it's a great to and from work car mods I haven't really done much I'm thinking about takeing the motor out of my acura gsr and putting the motor in the civic just for a weekend worryer lol, but its fine the way it is now ahaha well it would be nice if it was v-tec, but its to old to put that kind of power to the head/block lol.

Well if yor thinking about byeing one of these car and you want a little bit of style to go along with it?

Take off the old bumpers and put on the 1984/87crx bumpers on it they fit perfict I have them on my civic and knowbody knows what kind of car it is because it changes the look of the car big time.

I inherited one of these from my folks, and drove it for over 5 years. What a dog! Reliable, gas efficient, yes. But tiny, uncomfortable, and ZERO performance. Even with a 5-speed stick it could barely do 80 downhill with a tailwind. And good luck hitting anything over 65mph going uphill. It was the happiest day of my life when I finally graduated from this TOY to a "real" car.
