2010 Honda Freed E 1.5 iVTEC from Thailand

Summary:

Brilliant compromise between size, power and load

Faults:

None.

General Comments:

I really love my Honda Freed. It is the same width as Jazz and shorter than a Civic, but much smoother and more comfortable than either.

The engine is smooth and quiet, and there is not much road noise. It is not the quickest car on the road, but you can easily keep up with the flow of traffic, and cruising at 120KPH is very relaxed.

Getting in and out is easy with the electric sliding doors, and the middle row of seats recline and are really comfortable for adult passengers.

There is masses of headroom, and the when you are inside, it feels like a much bigger car.

It is easy to drive round the city, and comfortable for longer drives out of town.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I would say the power is adequate. The engine clearly works hard when you overtake, but it does the job - I have not been left unable to get past anyone. I think the 5 speed automatic gearbox (quite a rarity in this class of car) helps a lot. The top gear allows very relaxed cruising, and it 'kicks down' readily when you need a boost of power.

Some people have just looked at the numbers and said this car is underpowered, but it really doesn't feel like the same engine as I had in my old Jazz.
