Faults:

Most of the problems started within the first 3 years I have owned this car.

Water pump.

Motor mounts.

Clutch.

Starter 3 times.

Alternator 2 times.

Rough idle in warm weather.

High idle in cool weather

A/C.

Engine has been using oil since about 170,000 miles.

Thermostat 5 times.

General Comments:

This car is what it is, it has been surprisingly more reliable than I expected it to be, and still manages to deliver me almost 40 mpg with only using a quart oil within 2,000 miles. There is no visible signs off smoke or a leak either.

I will continue to drive this car as long as it lasts, and cannot be driven anymore. The car's ride is pretty noisy, but loud music fixes that, and it is not at all powerful, it has no balls whatsoever, but it was not made to be fast. This is also my first car too, and I got it when I was 16.

Faults:

Well, I had a few problems with the power windows, and some strange noises inside the vehicle, buts its fine.

General Comments:

Its 1.5 SOHC works nice and smooth. Its not a real bullet, but can outfit the Tercel's engine in a head-to-head race.

It works better at high RPM's, but have some troubles to recover its speed. I can be defined as a "fast reaching high speed car, but with a slowly recovering time". For a better response the tachometer must be in 4000 RPM or higher.

Sometimes I feel like the disc/drums combination doesn't fit this car, considering the speed it can reach (i got 170 km/h) and its weight (but it's not heavy for it class)

AT 170 km/h, with 175/70 R-13 wheels the car didn't feel too much "safe". However, well prepared this car can gives a lot of surprises. With some 15" or 17" tires, a cone air filter, a bigger butterfly intake system, some good header and better springs (its suspension its great, but it can become into excellent) this 1.5 SOHC can beat bigger ones like the Civic Si or the Primera GX.
