1990 Hyundai Pony GLS 1.5 from Slovenia

Summary:

Very good for a start

Faults:

The window mechanism on the right side for both doors cracked.

General Comments:

This car is my first and I am satisfied with it.

It's pretty comfortable for it's class.

It's holding to the road as if it's glued on it.

The metal is very hard and there have been no signs of rust!

I Just had problems with this car because of the low temperatures. Sometimes it wouldn't start and now there is something wrong with the oil filter. supposedly because of the -15°C :). Not the perfect car for the winter.

1990 Hyundai Pony Sonnet 1.3 from UK and Ireland

Faults:

The bonnet wouldn't initially open when trying to access the engine.

The clutch and gearbox have both been reconditioned to good order (2001).

A new exhaust system has been installed (2002).

A new radio/cassette player has been installed with a replacement Ariel (2002).

The seats though have started to wear slightly at the edges.

General Comments:

The car was left, lonely, unloved and abandoned on somebody's garden for over a year, so it needed a lot of work initially. Bought for £100!

Now the car is fun to drive. Taxed & MOTd till March 2004!

1990 Hyundai Pony X2 GSi 1.5i from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A great value, reliable saloon

Faults:

Catalytic converter went

Other usual problems for ageing cars.

General Comments:

Quite nippy for a saloon although handling was lacking. The aerodynamics were poor, but looks were OK although dated now.

Depreciation is very bad, but is good if you are the buyer as you can pick up a bargain. The Pony is extremely reliable. However the 1.5 is thirsty.
