1991 Isuzu Pickup 2.3 carb from North America

Faults:

The pickup has run pretty good since owning.

Several thousand miles ago I changed out the vacuum hoses and it "smoothed" out nicely. Now the cars engine wants to lope in idle, and after accelerating and driving at a steady speed, at different miles per hour, the engine stutters and sometimes significantly. What is happening? I replace the distributor cap and rotor, which it needed. Is it a fuel delivery or ignition issue or both?

General Comments:

Asking for help... it's been a great car for the price...

1991 Isuzu Pickup S 2.2L Carbureted from North America

Summary:

A 17 year marriage that's still going strong!

Faults:

Head gasket at 125000.

Replaced gas tank at 145000.

Paint began to disappear after 13 years.

Replaced rear bumper at 168000.

General Comments:

Performed all oil changes and filters, front brakes, air filter, muffler and tailpipe myself.

I put spark plugs and wires in about 100k miles.

Had a mechanic replace the head gasket and timing belt, water pump.

You may notice I didn't say anything about the clutch; it's original and still pulls my boat out of the water just fine. No slipping whatsoever.

This truck refuses to die! I parked it for 2 years under a tree in the side yard (that's probably what killed the paint on the top and hood) when I bought a little commuter roller-skate, and wet leaves sat on top of the gas tank and rusted thru the top. Replaced it with a junk-yard tank for 75 bucks!

I see NO reason to even look at another truck; besides it STILL gets 25-27 miles per gallon of cheap gas.

The interior is still in good shape and the front end is solid. It's a Plain-Jane w/o air conditioning, but its got wing windows!

1991 Isuzu Pickup n/a from North America

Summary:

Worth every penny

Faults:

The paint faded, and the back windows latches failed. The most serious engine repair was a timing belt, small oil leak, and a starter.

General Comments:

The truck is a work horse, driven every day.

The cab could be more comfortable.

It's like an old times watch, it just keeps going and going.

It also gets great gas mileage, and it is very economical to operate.

1991 Isuzu Pickup p'up 2.6L from North America

Summary:

"Goes farther" just like the motto says

Faults:

- Burned #1 valve.

- Exhaust manifolds kept cracking (until I replaced with headers).

General Comments:

Bought this truck new in 1991 and it has been very good to me.

Once I replaced the (OEM) exhaust manifold with (after market) headers, I've never looked back.

I've won about a half dozen trophies, in a span of 3 years, bracket drag racing this truck.
