1978 Jeep CJ7 258 from North America

Summary:

Frigging awesome

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

This old Jeep, like me, takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'!

With the river seeping in, this CJ wasn't fazed and it left the riverbed as easy as it entered.

The rough terrain in the adjacent cow pasture was no problem, nor the fence it crushed beneath its Laredo tires.

Climbing the cow hill was a walk in the park, easily negotiating hardwoods and limestone.

Once the summit was reached, this CJ wanted more!

1978 Jeep CJ7 258 from North America

Summary:

They will never duplicate the rough and tough 1978 CJ7

Faults:

For the vehicle being 25 years old, not much...

Had to replace some wiring due to aftermarket tow package wiring problem.

Replaced the valve cover gasket.

Replaced the water pump.

General Comments:

This is the ultimate JEEP!

Seats and interior are perfect.

All gauges and lights work.

T-18A tranny with super low gears for excellent crawl.

I would put this 4X4 up against ANY truck or SUV.

1978 Jeep CJ7 Renegade 304 cubic inch V8 from North America

Summary:

One big bundle of joy!!!!!!!!!!..

Faults:

Wiring harness problems. e.g...Heater blower motor goes out in wet weather..

Had one axle flange spin... It is inherent with the AMC model 20 rear differential...

General Comments:

There is not one bad comment you could make about the Jeep CJ series... They handle good off road and decent on road.. There is nothing more gratifying than taking the top off and going on a long drive on the highway or off road..

This is one vehicle that you have to drive, in order to understand the complete automotive experience...

Love my 1978 Jeep CJ-7...

I totally agree. A fun vehicle and old school manual transmission. I will drive this over a motorcycle, 10% safer and no need to wear a helmet and leather, etc. during the hot summer days.

Drove 78 CJ7 from age 16 until age 30. Sent to local repair facility in Mayport Fl had it overhauled and am driving it every day once again at age 35. Best vehicle ever made.
