2002 Jeep TJ SE 2.5L, 4 cylinder. from North America

Summary:

Best all-purpose vehicle out there!

Faults:

The front sway-bar came unhooked.

The "check engine" light has come on twice for no reason (i.e. was charged twice to reset the on board computer).

Paint is peeling on read window hinge.

Hard top makes whistling noise when temperature is below freezing (I'm assuming an issue with the seals).

General Comments:

The best all-purpose vehicle around. An 4WD monster in the winter and a convertible in the summer. Such fun!

Fuel consumption is higher than expected.

The interior is sparse with few frills, which I like in a car. The less things that can break, the better!

Great all-around visibility. The large windows are greatly appreciated.

Hard to drive on a windy highway with the soft top up. Wouldn't take it on long trips.

Have had a 2001 Wrangler for over a year, love the vehicle. Minor check engine light - code was something like a loose gas cap (spent the $15 for a Chilton manual) only happened a couple of times, none since. Decent gas mileage, but really love the ability to make it convertible. Not much for long trips, but great to get to work and short trips.

Bought My TJ 4 months ago. Fuel consumption is not impressive. Check engine light came up within few weeks of my purchase. Loved driving it in winter with excellent traction. Can't wait for summer to go topless.

2002 Jeep TJ X 4.0 from North America

Faults:

The rear pinion seal is leaking due to a 3.5 suspension lift.

General Comments:

The car handles very well off-road and it is a daily driver.

It is fun to drive.

I can recommend this vehicle without hesitation.

2002 Jeep TJ Sahara 4 liter 6 from North America

Summary:

A tough workhorse that does it all

Faults:

The rear panel for the soft top is poorly designed and the nylon zipper is not strong enough. This zipper has failed twice in two years.

General Comments:

For off road adventures this little horse has no peers. The motor is responsive and very flexible and although the transmission is a bit truck like it is strong and reliable. I drove jeeps in the army and my Sahara was not left wanting.

2002 Jeep TJ Sport 4.0 from North America

Summary:

Bulletproof

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

Unless left OEM, every Jeep becomes a reflection of the owners personality by the accessories added. My Jeep has been totally reliable and fun to drive.

The 'Original SUV' still sets the standard by all others follow.

Needs more rear storage space and a dash redesign.

Others have said the TJ is light; I find it rather heavy for it's size which is reassuring in the age of plastic.

Needs more power even in a I-6.

Viper V-10 is only 6 inches longer than the 6 cylinder. Just have to mount the rad on the front side of the rad support. Should solve the "lack of power" problem.

2002 Jeep TJ wrangler x 4.0 from North America

Summary:

It's a jeep, versatile, atractive and reliable.

Faults:

The manual transmission 1-2 and 2-3 shifts grind intermittantly. Dealer replaced transmission. New transmission is not much better.

No other faults.

General Comments:

A great off road vehicle. On road is OK. Don't expect it to be car.

Great aftermarket support.
