2006 Jeep TJ Sport 4.0 inline 6 190 hp from North America

Summary:

Best choice of my life

Faults:

Nothing yet.

General Comments:

I love this Jeep... It is a tank. The 4 wheel drive destroys the 4runners.. (which is pretty dang good).

The TJ is quick and responsive; the 4.0 really does a good job with the power aspect. Only car out there that you can take the doors and the top off of, and fold down the windshield.

It is loud noisy and somewhat comfortable. If you like comfort and quiet, this is not the car for you. It's a jeep thing; you won't understand unless you get one.

2006 Jeep TJ Sport I-6 from North America

Summary:

Best Vehicle for your $$$

Faults:

Nothing so far.

Still has low KM so I am not anticipating any problems for another 20 or 30 Thousand kms.

Also has a 2001 TJ Sport that I purchased new and drove it until it had 106,000 KM. - Only one problem with it and it was a Cam Sensor that was covered under warranty.

General Comments:

This is my 4th Jeep - 2 x CJ-7's and 2 x TJ Sports

I may just be an Old School Jeep owner, but I enjoyed the CJ-7's a bit more.

Probably because I wasn't as concerned about leaving it out in the weather as much and not worried about the Stereo being stolen as I only had a tape deck in the older Jeeps.

All in all the Jeep is one of the enjoyable vehicles to drive and there is that feeling of family between owners.

Twice when I have had flat tires, other jeep owners have pulled over to see if they could help out in any way.

"I may just be an Old School Jeep owner, but I enjoyed the CJ-7's a bit more."

I am with you on that one - Back in 2003, I traded in a 1995 Jeep (YJ) Wrangler Sport for a brand new (TJ) Wrangler Sahara - in 2005 I went back to a 1995 Wrangler Sport, which I am still driving to this day.

I just prefer the old AMC designed Jeeps to the newer Chrysler designed ones.

2006 Jeep TJ Sport 4.0 from North America

Summary:

This is a fantastic toy

Faults:

Nothing has happened as of 12000KM.

General Comments:

An excellent all round utility vehicle. This jeep functions very well out of the box on the trail. As a fun top down runabout in the city it is a blast. As far as MPG, forget it. You are driving a brick through a wind tunnel with this and it is very thirsty. Would not recommend as a daily driver if your commute it more that 80km a day. But when the sun is out and the top is down nothing comes close on or off road.

2006 Jeep TJ SE 2.4-liter I4 from North America

Summary:

Basic, raw, go anywhere transportation

Faults:

Water leaks when it rains. I have the hard doors and a soft top. I had both door seals replaced, and still had leaks. Took it back and they adjusted (bent) the doors. It appears to have helped.

Power is so-so. You have to anticipate what the road ahead requires and be in the right gear.

Shifter is a little noisy and notchy feeling, but it works just fine.

Dealers service manager has not been friendly. The guys at the body shop were great! My salesman hooked me up with a loaner.

General Comments:

Fuel economy is great! I have been getting 20-22mpg… just driving around 50% hi-way 50% city. That is excellent for a 4x4!

The I-4 has gotten me over the mountain and through the woods on several of the local dirt roads. Nothing extreme, my wife’s Camry could have done just as well, but the Jeep is a whole lot more fun.

The suspension is wonderful, nothing like my college buddies old CJ. It has great street manners, and while driving around on my property, I have been able to go anywhere there has not been a tree in my way.

Real off road abilities, I have not tested this yet, but will in less than 2 weeks. I am counting the days till the Ouachita Jeep Jamboree! I would like to see how my I-4 stacks up against the I-6’s.

OK. I am back from the jamboree. I am happy to report that the little Jeep went just about everywhere we pointed it. In low range 4 wheel drive it did just fine and kept up with the 6 cylinders. The only issues we had were with the stock tires not giving us enough ground clearance for some obstacles. I have already ordered a 2 inch lift and will be getting some 31 inch tires. Another issue we had was after the last day of playing, we took the Jeep out of 4 wheel drive and the indicator stayed on. We verified that it was indeed out of 4 wheel drive. After a few days the light finally went off.

While we were out I got to see a 2007 X model on the trail. It did great and even pulled me out of the mud twice!
