1990 Jeep Wrangler YJ review from North America
"Awesome, great car for cruising"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
At about 75000 miles, the thermostat got stuck open - easy fix.
Corrosion took its toll on my windshield washer fluid reservoir. That kinda stunk, but I figured if it got that terrible, I could just lean my head out the car :-)
General comments?
Apparently I haven't yet felt the effects of some other Jeeps that are starting to give out on their owners. None of this strut, rotors, gaskets, mount, corrosion (except for my washer tank), or deranged gas gauge problems. Then again I do live in California and my car's got it pretty easy in the garage. I somewhat realize the lack of power going up hills and accelerating, but if you want a car that can get up to the same speed in half the seconds (which is pointless really), you might consider getting a car that doesn't have the aerodynamics of a barn. But when you kick this baby into four low, it's amazing to see where this thing will go. It doesn't even matter how fast you let out the clutch, it just...goes. No one even has to drive it, it just drives itself at 3 mph or something and I could probably drive through a house with little interruption in speed... just kidding, but really, it pretty awesome.
I've seen cars at Hollister Hills, big diesel Ford F-250's, get stuck and lose power on hills, but then comes my car and it's truly a champ.
So if you're looking for some summer fun, or all-year-round fun if you live in Cali., get yourself one of these and go tear up some mountain ranges, even with the 2.5 I-4.
