1978 Lada 1600 VAZ 2106 from Bosnia and Herzegovina - Comments

- Due to corrosion, right wing was replaced after 8 years.

- The clock was not accurate.

- Once, after 6 years, the car could not start.

- The benzine slightly smells inside the car.

We used a LADA 1600 for 14 years, passed 78000 km, until it was destroyed in the war. It survived cold winters and hot summers without a garage. The car has a lot of baggage and passenger space. Our Lada never failed on the road. The instrument table is much better than the instrument table of any Mercedes of that time.

Generally: LADA 1600 was the best car I had, better than previous my Skoda 1000MB and later VW Golf II.

My family also had VAZ 2106 and our experiences are excellent too. The car was so good equipped (like much more expensive western cars), so quiet and so appealing that I and my twin brother (we are mechanical engineers and love cars) are thinking of buying it again (the car is still produced!).

I have LADA 2106 82' now. Its brilliant car that I ever had. I like it very much. I did some changes on it. Only with my own hands I reconstructed engine. Now its powerful car, sometimes I drive to drag race, of course my car isn't best there, but I can show sometimes. 2106 from zero to 100 km/h tooks only 7 seconds. I don't want another car!

We had a few lada in the family, not 2106, but 2101, 2105 and niva. OK, for the time being it was so, so car (you could not buy anything else for this money in former YU), but I really did not know that with 76 PS only it could reach 100 km/ he in 7 seconds! I think you should contact any automobile factory that produces cars stronger than 200 PS to shame them! I think that your lada is unicum. You did not tell us, could it runs over 250km/ h per hour, or you have electronic blockage installed!?

The man said he tuned the engine. With tuned engine it's no problem to reach 0-100 for 7 sec. I am from Bulgaria and here we have very much tuned ladas. Many of them are faster then Porches and Ferraris. The car is great!
