I have the standard wheelbase and the L model definitely wasn't TEN GRAND $$$ MORE than my car??? Ha! Ha! Ha! Whatever. Anyway, my car has none of the issues mentioned here; sure, there are too many electronic modules and stuff -- which is WHY the engine is sealed -- they don't want shade tree mechanics up in there messing with all that haute tech. Besides, SO WHAT? This car isn't for people who like to tinker and DIY their own service and maintenance. If that is you, you most certainly bought the WRONG car.

And another thing: The distance the parking alarm chimes is set by YOU, the driver. So if you don't like that sound... JUST TURN IT OFF. And if the 8-speed trans bothers you, learn how to drive an 8-speed. My car downshifts on command without so much as a thought... maybe your car is in need of service, sure. However, it is more likely the driver/owner's lack of experience has him thinking it is the car that is at fault, when, in fact, the one behind the wheel is the one to blame.

The depreciation on these cars is crazy.

Original reviewer: update on the Lexus LS460 I purchased. Been running good but there have been a few issues.

Battery died and had to get a new one from Walmart.

Electric power steering acts up once in a while, especially after it rains or is cold. Since we have had warmer weather it hasn't had any issues. Some of the owners on the internet says it has to do with faulty electric connectors for the electric power steering unit; not sure if true or not.

Also one of outside mirrors won't fold in anymore so I bought a used one from eBay for $200.00 and will have to have it painted and installed when I get the chance.

Recently took a 300 mile trip in the car and it drives very nicely over smooth roads and so so over rougher road surfaces. I have been in the early Lexus LS vehicles and they ride much better.

If I had to do it all over again I would have listened to Consumer Reports and got the years they recommend, which are the 2010-2014 model years. 2013 being the best of the bunch for those years.
