1991 Mazda Eunos Presso 1.8 V6 from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

A good cheap fast sport car!

Faults:

Part of the suspension was loose and cost me $190 to fix.

Clutch needed to be tightened.

General Comments:

This is the fastest car I have ever owned, personally all sports cars should be manuel and with my car being manuel it gives it extra power.

Would prefer to be rear wheel drive, but it is front wheel drive so be careful when going around corners fast, be on full concentration.

Mazda Eunos Presso are 1.8 V6 24 Valve so have lots of power, on the negative side having such a powerful motor are not economical so do not buy one of these cars if you are not willing to pay out on petrol.

1991 Mazda Eunos Presso 1.8 V6 from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Groovy and seriously a stunner

Faults:

Air intake blew just as I got it. Rust in the sunroof and doors, bald tyres. That's all I can record.

General Comments:

My car is a high performance chicks car. It's black and has sounds such as a Pioneer headunit and sub.

I want to make engine modifications such as turbocharging it. I have just fitted a pod filter and sounds just like a Nissan Skyline.

1991 Mazda Eunos Roadster 1.6 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Mazda got this so right..

Faults:

One headlamp blew- replaced for £8.99.

Leather tab on rear window zip snapped so I tied another one on.

Total bill- £8.99 in 70,000km, other than standard service items.

General Comments:

Cars don't come more reliable than this.

I get in excess of 40 miles per gallon on a motorway run! just keep below 4000 revs if you can. Mess with the Silver Germans and it's more like 25 miles per gallon.

My Roadster is still worth what I paid for it, give or take 500 pounds.

...and it is just so much fun. I love the way that boy racer in his XR1.1 who fills your mirror on the straight just disappears when you get to a tight bend or island. this car is on rails.

I so agree with this comment. We have a ’91 Eunos Roadster bought in September 2001 and did less than 2000 miles in our first year! Now I use it every day and just love the dry days when I can get the top off.

We’re going to invest in a new roof with a glass window, but other than that we’ve not spent anything on it in nearly 4 years.

When we bought our Eunos from Sam Goodwin Motors (now in Nuneaton) some friends treated the fact that it was an import with disdain. They had a ‘proper’ Mazda MX5 but, boy, you should have seen their faces when they realised that the spec of our 10year old import was better than their newer model.

We are members of a local church and there are now 5 Eunos/MX5 owners in our congregation– it looks so great to see them lined up when we all meet together.

The motto of this is: See it – love it. Drive it – Love it. Own it – Love it. We just love it.

Can't say I've had such goodluck. Do about 2500 miles a year and still get a huge bill just to pass an MOT. Parts which seem to have to be replaced after only two years wear!

1991 Mazda Eunos Mk 1 S 1.6 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A joy to drive and own that gets admiring looks from everyone that sees it

Faults:

Problem with the air control unit not working properly, promptly fixed by the garage purchased from. Not so much a problem with the car, but with some low life who decided to slash the roof and try (unsuccessfully) to steal the CD / Radio. A few people have commented here about poor fuel economy, but no matter whether it is driven hard or gentle we get between 32 to 36 m.p.g. which I think is excellent.

General Comments:

The car is a Japanese import and as such came with a lot of accessories which you would not get on a UK model, after market alloys, stainless steel exhaust system etc, the Insurance was only £269 fully comp with a protected bonus, it is a pleasure to drive and I will without doubt upgrade to a newer model in a few years time.
