2004 Mercedes-Benz CLK 320 V6 from North America

Summary:

Never again!!!

Faults:

What has not gone wrong with the car?!?!

1. Transmission: deceleration & acceleration whine, sounds like an airplane taking off & landing.

2. Driver window rattles.

3. Driver rear speaker rattles.

4. Excessive clicking sound from the A/C compressor.

5. Horrible paint.

6. Center console broken.

7. Driver side AC vent broken.

Only had the car for less than a year and have already spent over $4000 on repairs and maintenance!!

General Comments:

Mercedes are not reliable and mechanics from the local MB dealerships are not knowledgeable nor do they know what they are doing!! They will only make assumptions of what the problem might be, so whatever it is, you will end up paying for parts & labor even if it doesn't correct the problem... It's never a thorough diagnosis!!

2004 Mercedes-Benz CLK 270cdi 2.7 diesel from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Great,if a little over priced

Faults:

Needed new oil seal in gearbox.

General Comments:

Seems a strange combination a coupe with a diesel engine and automatic transmission, but it works.

Good comfort for a coupe.

Reasonably quick performance for a diesel.

Seriously sleek looks.

40 mpg fuel consumption which is good from a coupe of this size.

Interior shows quality in two tone grey.

2004 Mercedes-Benz CLK 320 from North America

Summary:

A very high priced mistake for me

Faults:

Since I bought the car new off the show room floor, both catalytic converters have needed to be replaced. These items were not observed by the service department while doing the 1st servicing. This leads me to question are the service techs competent?

The glove box that is located between the seat has had to be replaced due to a design defect.

Brake light that is located on the trunk has malfunctioned and has a collection of water inside and is being replaced.

General Comments:

The catalytic converters are taking a very long time to replace, even though they are under warranty. It has been 2 weeks and I am still waiting for my local dealer to get it in.

Lots of problems that you do not expect with a brand new car at this price point.
