2000 Mercedes-Benz CLK 200 Kompressor review from Greece
"An excellent long-distance traveller on smooth roads, with a strong engine."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Passenger side door requires a lot of effort to shut, but has not been properly fixed despite two visits to repair shop.
Driver's seat has started to wear noticeably, with sagging seat bottom leather.
General comments?
Great high-speed stability, handling and grip.
Good gas mileage on open road.
Adequate seating for rear-seat passengers and large trunk- great for trips.
Good cabin and general build quality.
Very comfortable driver's seat.
Strong engine and good performance for a 2 litre.
Great low-RPM torque.
However, standing-start is almost always jerky with a lot of driveline shunt.
Useless in light snow without snow chains (thankfully it snows very little in Greece).
Wheel rim diameter is too large.
Cheap feeling climate control buttons for a car of its status and price range.
Crashes and booms on poor road surfaces on optional 17" tire/wheel package (standard suspension) better to stick with original equipment 16" wheels.
