2009 Mercedes-Benz SL 63 AMG 6.2L V8 from North America

Summary:

It is a great car for most people

Faults:

The transmission gives off a gas escape noise at 3000 rpm under full acceleration all the time. The dealer is in contact with head office, as this issue is unheard of by them.

General Comments:

This car is fabulous and had has an amazing engine note, however even with 518 factory horsepower, giving 4.5 zero to 60 mph times (Mercedes claim), I strongly feel it is way too slow. That's my only complaint.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

What's slow about it?

I just had Mercedes return my 2 year old AMG model, and at least I got almost everything back.

My 63 series had a lot of HVAC type noise, sounded like tranny kinda, it's a known issue.

Mercedes told me, oh all AMGs rough idle.

It is the most reliable car ever. My 2002 C5 white with red int. convertible, and 32 MPG, until I get to a red light. Then the mileage sinks like the Titanic.

At least the newer Mercedes floats the average miles indicator better, and oh I miss those seats.

I think I'm gonna trade it all in for this...

I had done a lot of research on edmunds.com and kellybluebook.com before going for a 2009 MERCEDES-BENZ SL63 AMG. I finally found a few of these cars under $15,000 on www.ipricecars.com, I have been using this car for over 1 year now and have not faced any issues. For me there was no noise, even at 3000 RPM.
