1983 Mercury Capri LX review from North America
"Good old friend Capri. Dependable until it gets rusty and old, but you need a good mechanic"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Heater core replaced once, radiator replaced once, muffle & pipes replaced several times, full brake system replaced once, starter bad once, rust and some places of flaky metallic paint.
The hydraulic back hatch lifts loss of gas have to use a stick to prop, replaced gasoline lines due to rust. Only changed spark plugs once. It likes premium gasoline to idle smoother.
General comments?
The engine never fails and the power is always there going up hills. My Capri never likes cold mornings or dampness to start 1st time in the day.
It's easy to steer and in and around quickly and smoothly, roomy for cargo with the fold down back seat, like a small station wagon. I have had it over 20 years.
