2005 Mercury Sable GS 3.0L V6 from North America

Summary:

Seems to be overall a good car

Faults:

The transmission shifts at the wrong times. This car gets terrible fuel mileage. 14 in city and 19 on highway. That is bad for such a small car?!?

General Comments:

This is a good, reliable car so far. It has plenty of power and is fairly comfortable.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

Small? My Sable is freakin' huge!! However, 14 to 19 is a bit rough. Air filter and a few other things should clear it up. If not, try premium gas and synthetic oil. I get 23 MPG (not the best) but expect to be up to 30-32 MPG after the modifications I listed above.

Your transmission shifts at the wrong times. Does that mean you have to rev the engine really high for the transmission to shift? That would explain the high fuel consumption. Have it checked by a good independent mechanic.

OK...what are you used to driving...? cadillacs and tractor trailer trucks?

2005 Mercury Sable LS Sedan 3.0 24 Valve V6 from North America

Summary:

We love the comfort and handling

Faults:

Buzz Rattle in the dash.

General Comments:

This car is a replacement for a 2001 Sable that was a total after an accident. The previous Sable had been such a good reliable car we went to another nearly identical car.

A special package was available with leather and ABS as giveaways. The rebate package was $6000, making a new car attractive versus buying a 2 year old used car.
