How did you own a BMW Mini BEFORE you bought this car in 1994?

Was it one of those three-wheeled jobs?

My First. Loved it like a child. Bought it at 65000 miles For $600. A steal on my part. Only problem with the car was the heater core leaked (which seems to be the only reoccurring problem with the tracer). Traded it in after replacing all four blown speakers (my fault) for a 2002 cougar. I miss the amazing gas mileage of the tracer and recommend it to any new drivers.

3) car smelt like antifreeze.

General Comments:

I don't need a big car.

The 1994 Mercury Tracer's engine options were 1.8L and 1.9L what car were you talking about?

1994 Mercury Tracer Station Wagon 1.9L 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

A great small family car

Faults:

4th Cylinder rod bearing wore out at 168,000 mile. It was faster (1 week) and cheaper ($750 parts and labor) to replace the engine than fix the bearing. There are literally thousands of Ford Escort/Mercury Tracer engines available anytime.

No other problems.

General Comments:

Affordable. Bought used at Kelly blue book value from dealer with a 30 day warranty. Gets 30mpg on average.

Performance. Even with a fully loaded wagon, this engine easily accelerates to freeway speeds.

Comfort. Fully loaded with AC, Cruise Control, and power windows, this car is great for long trips with the family. Our small children have lots of room in the rear seats, and the wagon cargo space is ample.

Ease. This is my wife's first car. She used it to pass her driver's test, and loves it. A good car for a first time driver.
