1974 MG B Tourer 1.8 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Great fun... timeless

Faults:

Rust - it was well hidden by the previous owner, but is now coming through loud and clear - and it seems nothing slows it other than metal replacement.

General Comments:

These are great little cars - very solid and simple to maintain. Parts are readily available.

Many mechanics shy away from working on Brit bits, but once they realize the simplicity of the car, they actually seem to enjoy it - no computers!

I have not had the Lucas electrical issues others may have had. She fires up with a flick of the key.

Classic exhaust notes. Classic lines. Buy a good solid one. It's easier to sort out the mechanical and interior issues than it is to make a body right. Rust free is the priority. Enjoy!

1974 MG B Convertible 1.8 Gas from North America

Faults:

Brake master cylinder leaks, clutch master and slave cylinder leaks, radiator leaks, fuel pump leak, carb leaks, bad front shock absorber, speedometer bad, 2 times. Water leaks around wind screen. Actually it has been reliable for the past six months.

General Comments:

I enjoy taking it out on some back roads with the top down, makes me forget about all the problems I had to repair during the first six months after buying it. I bought from a used car lot, not recommended in America. Try to find one with some maintenance history.
