1993 Mitsubishi Colt GLi 1.3 from Romania

Summary:

Colt rulz!

Faults:

The distribution needs to be changed and it's really expensive, not the cable, but the guys from the service are charging about 150 euros for the work, without the distribution cable. But then again, they are charging about 50 euros for an oil change.

The drivers seat belt enclosure is broken, so I have to lock my seat belt in the passenger's place.

General Comments:

It's a pretty fast car, 1.3 engine and only 910kg. It's just great in the city, it's not that small, but it still makes its way through the crowd.

I think that it's a good car because it's the car I'm learning to drive on, and I had the chance to drive newer cars, and this one seems easier to drive, and in almost 7000 km I didn't have any engine issues, didn't have to repair anything.

Plus, when you have a classic like the Colt series, you make a pretty nice impression on the road.

1993 Mitsubishi Colt 1.3 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A very reliable and nippy car more suited for city driving

Faults:

Nothing went wrong with the car in 15 months of ownership.

General Comments:

The car is small, but quick - excellent for city motoring.

The interior is not world class and the seats are somewhat uncomfortable if driving for long periods of time. Also only available as a 3 door.

The engine is extremely reliable - absolutely nothing went wrong with the car. Reliability is certainly Mitsubishi's strong point.

The revs drop slightly (about 500 revs) when the air conditioning is turned on.

1993 Mitsubishi Colt from North America

Summary:

A great bargain!

Faults:

Replaced the alternator.

General Comments:

Extremely good value for the money, both in terms of few repairs, and very good gas mileage.

It handles very well in wet snow, allowing me to travel when other vehicles were stuck.

Not the fastest or strongest engine in its class, but very reliable. I've taken several long trips through mountains with almost no problems.

1993 Mitsubishi Colt GLI 1.8 16v from Venezuela

Summary:

Very nice car, not recommended for a family

Faults:

Gearbox was a pain when recently bought. I had to spend over $2,500 to repair it only two months after purchase.

Seats are not very comfortable and the trunk is not very big.

Driver's windows do not go up straight, needs a little hand help.

Revolutions per minute drop pretty much when the air conditioner turns on (like 500).

Valve rings and other 16 hydraulic spare parts (all the same) in engine that I don't know how to describe in english, were replaced at 100.000 Kms.

Here in Venezuela, spare parts are expensive.

General Comments:

Very fast car, goes from 0-100 kilometers in 8 seconds and it has performed a 210 kilometers high speed with the air conditioner on.

Very cheap in gasoline, 10 kilometers per liter.

Nice and cool air conditioner.

Very stable electric system.

Excellent grip in curves.

Barely no tire and brake wasting.

Very cute design, most attractive of its kind here in this country.

1993 Mitsubishi Colt GLXi 1.6 16v from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Quick, cheap, practical little beastie

Faults:

Nothing really...

Electric windows are a bit on the crappy side, sometimes they need a little "wobble" to make them work.

And once it got some damp in the ignition. As I thought it was all electronic and far too complicated I took it to the Mitsubishi dealer who wiped it with a rag and charged me about a million quid. Leave the dealers well alone if you can.

General Comments:

This car has good looks (mine has nice alloys) and has decent performance and sharp handling to match. Performance per pound it's a winner.

Watch out as although you can throw it into corners ludicrously fast, when it does let go... bye!

It's good on petrol (40 mpg) and cheap to insure.

On the down side, the typical nasty grey Japanese interior lets it down and the seats are not as supportive as they should be for such a quick little car.

Summary:

Great looking, speedy car

Faults:

Nothing yet, my sister owned it for three years before me and had very little trouble either.

Very quick acceleration and a great looking car with tinted windows, electric everything and comfortable to drive.

1993 Mitsubishi Colt GLXi 1.6 16v from Netherlands

Summary:

Good buy

Faults:

None.

General Comments:

It is a "speedy" car, outruns a BMW 316, only the top speed is just 190 km/h.

I prefer next the 1.8 GTI.

Take caution for the understeering effects of this car, it needs to be stabilized.

For the rest a good reliable car.

1993 Mitsubishi Colt GLXi 1.6 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Good, reliable and robust car....

Faults:

Nothing serious, just that the fuel pump which is outside the fuel tank makes a lot of humming noise. The service engineers don't have an idea why it's so noisy.

General Comments:

The car's definitely reliable, but if it had more power it would have been better.

The steering is a bit tight. Can't take a full turn in short places.
