1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2.0L non-turbo from North America

Summary:

Fast street racing paradise

Faults:

Transmission went out at 139,000.

Exhaust system has a leak.

General Comments:

This car rocks. Very fast, nice looking, Nice pickup, sporty.

I couldn't of asked for a better first car.

Easy to find parts. Tons of aftermarket stuff you can get for this baby.

The back seats are kinda small. enough room for maybe a dog or cat. But that's a sports car for you.

If you see any of these cars get one. If you see an old one restore it. you will not regret it.

1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2.0 DOHC from North America

Summary:

Good non costly sports car

Faults:

Electronic control unit replaced.

Throttle position sensor replaced.

Paint wear on hood.

Had to replace thermostat.

Lifters need replaced.

General Comments:

Insurance is affordable and parts are not to hard to come by. If need to get parts from manufacturer I suggest go to a junk yard first though. This car is a non turbo model so it is not high in power, but fair. I plan to do more to it thought. Over all it is very reliable now after fixing it up. It doesn't burn oil it gets fair gas mielage and turns peoples heads. For the $1000 I paid for it was definitely worth it.

1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2.0 non turbo from North America

Summary:

A Great Small Sports Car

Faults:

The only thing that has gone wrong with this car is the head gasket other than that that the car has been great for me. It went out on me at 150,000 miles.

General Comments:

This car is awesome, I would not trade it in for anything in the whole world.

Even at 150,000 miles there is no rust on the car what so ever.

It has great horsepower for being a small 4 cylinder. At 135 horse I am hoping to upgrade my air intake.

After that moving to exhaust and supercharger.

1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 1.8 from North America

Summary:

A potential high performance beauty

Faults:

First of all I should point out that I have only had this car since August 14, 2003.

When I got this car it had a hole in the muffler, that cost about 136 dollars to replace.

The GV Joints need to be replaced at this point, but I haven't had the money or the time to get that fixed yet.

The car is a bit sluggish and I think that either or both of the next two comments is to blame for that.

Their seems to be a clog in the fuel injection system, and for that I got a gas additive to clean it out (it seems to be working so far).

The owner before me really did a bad job of taking care of this car, and when I got it there was pretty much no oil what so ever in the car. This caused, I believe, for it to have white smoke coming out of the muffler (still getting that checked out) (after putting some oil in it of course).

This car is also in severe need of a paint job.

General Comments:

It looks like the interior of this car has been replaced recently, I have yet to find any damage areas besides the driver's side seat adjuster, which had been broken off.

1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2.0 16v turbo from North America

Summary:

An amazingly fast, high performance car that virtually runs forever

Faults:

The timing belt had to be replaced at around 170,000 miles.

Turbo waste gate had to be replaced at 220,000 miles.

Stock stereo had to be replaced as soon as I got the car.

General Comments:

This car has about 205 turbo charged horses and still gets over 30 MPG.

The maximum speed (at 234,000 original miles) is around 155 MPH.

I will personally guarantee that it out accelerates, handles better, and out performs any Honda or Acura ever made.

The turbo boosts stock at 14 pounds.

0-60 times are less than 7 sec.

The best thing about these Eclipse's is that you don't have to repair them at all. They seem to run forever, as long as you know how to drive a turbo car. I might rebuild the engine at 300,000 miles just for fun... it won't need it though.

If you want to purchase one, buy a 90-92 turbo model, they are the fastest Eclipse's made (including the 99 turbo and the 2000-2003 V6).
