2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2.4 from North America

Summary:

Underpowered junk

Faults:

Interior falling apart.

Problems with brakes.

Clutch issues.

Unreliable motor.

Control arms replaced twice.

Issues with sunroof.

Cheap headlights have poor design.

General Comments:

Underpowered snail from Mitsubishi. Feels like a slow tank even though it's manual transmission.

Steering is simply awful.

Interior falls apart in front of your eyes, especially interior door handles.

Rear seat is a sad joke. Unless you're 4 feet tall, don't bother sitting in the back. Uncomfortable poorly designed interior.

Brakes are far from good. Prone to caliper failure. Headlights are bizarre and control arms on these are flimsy.

Would never recommend to anyone and will never buy again another Mitsubishi. There are hundreds of better cars for same price.

2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder 2.4 from North America

Summary:

The best mix of sexy lines, great mileage, and fantastic reliability!!!

Faults:

Absolutely nothing! Exterior is perfect, as well as the leather interior. It feels and looks a lot more expensive than it was.

General Comments:

We just bought it a few days ago. We have never had a convertible and decided that since we moved to Las Vegas; why not! We were torn between several convertibles.

Crossfire - too small; I am 6'3" and my head hit the ceiling.

Lexus Sc 430 - Great, but the dealer sucked and ruined the experience, and it's a bit spendy.

Nissan 350z - Very nice, but mixed reviews on the new ones.

MB CLK 350 - Too grandma looking.

Or... another Prius, we already have one, so we didn't know if we wanted another. My 94 Integra with 250,000 was on its last legs.

So we pulled the trigger on the Eclipse. The Seats are extremely comfortable and the sound system; Rockford Fosgate is superior. The sub hits so hard and it is still crystal clear at volume 39 of 45 at highway speeds. There is not much for wind in the cockpit other than by your head (it's a convertible). We have the 4cyl for the gas mileage, hopefully a better choice then the V8 SC 430.

Well if you run into the problem of not deciding on a convertible with a little back seat (insurance is cheaper) YOU should consider the Eclipse! Look how many great reviews these have! I have absolutely no regrets in purchasing this vehicle.

The paint is also outstanding, the brightest, deepest red I have ever seen! And the top... WOW fantastic for Mitsubishi, quick, smooth, and as my fiancée says since it's her car "sexy" they really did an outstanding job on this car!!!

The correct answer was Honda S2000.

2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 3.8L Mivec V6 from North America

Summary:

Awesome car, love it!!!

Faults:

Well the only real problem that I've had with this vehicle is its ability to get you pulled over so often...

Really there are no problems as of yet. I have noticed that the rear brakes squeak a lot and don't stop.

Also shifting into 3rd with the sportronic transmission is kinda funny. As well as the plastic on the rear of the seats scratches way too easy! And the plastic eclipse trunk cover is too cheaply made.

2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GT 3.8L MIVEC from North America

Summary:

Awesome Spyder

Faults:

Nothing has been a problem so far.

General Comments:

This car is very sporty looking and extremely quick to match. Although it is heavier than previous generations, the V6 will shoot this car forward with no hesitation.

The soft top is second to none. It goes up or down with the push of a button and is completely hidden under a tonneau cover.

The interior is larger than before with compass and outside temp displays as well as a 6 CD changer 650 Watt Rockford Fosgate Stereo. The seats cradle you and have excellent lumbar support.

Gas mileage has been adequate for a V6. I have averaged around 19 mpg with mostly city driving.

In conflict with what most people say about this car, I personally love that it is FWD. I live in Ohio and a Miata or S2000 isn't going to work in the snow so this is an all year around car.

I highly recommend this car to anyone who is looking for a convertible sports car that is also practical and not too expensive.

I'm interested in purchasing a 2008 Eclipse GT - Manual- Convertible and I was wondering if anyone that lives north of the 50 could tell me what the convertible is like in the harsh winters here?

Would I be better off to stick with a sunroof?

I have an Eclipse hardtop, same year, GT-P, and I love it. I think the convertible is cool, but if you want more practicality, then the hard top is the way to go as you have more room in the trunk (rear seats fold down) and the sunroof is just stellar.
