2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS from North America

Summary:

Sweet looking ride!

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong... yet.

General Comments:

I love my 08 Lancer GTS. It's a hot car, it's not too big, it's not too small, it's just right for me. I've had a few Mitsubishi cars before, a 91 eclipse, a 93 3000GT and a 95 Eclipse AWD turbo and I've never been disappointed by Mitsubishi.

The Lancer has the looks and the comfort to please most. It may not be the fastest and may not have the fastest acceleration, but that isn't really important to me anymore. The car has great features, I have the sun and sound package with the navigation, the music server, bluetooth and the subwoofer in the trunk.

The car handles like a dream and has great gas mileage with the CVT automatic transmission and looks damn good too! I'm going to have this car until it has 200,000 miles on it.

2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS from North America

Summary:

Great car, great company, with just a few areas which can easily be improved upon

Faults:

When it's about time to have an oil change, you actually can hear a difference in the engine. It makes more of a metallic sound than it did initially.

It helps remind you to get the change done, but it is quite annoying at the same time.

The paint on the vehicle does seem to be quite thin, and chip fairly easily from stones or from salt during the winter. You notice this mostly on the skirt on the sides of the car more than anywhere else I find.

The vehicle is quite loud when you're running at 3000 rpms and above, or accelerating hard. Eventually you do get used to it though.

It has quite a nice acceleration to her though, even with a moderately low HP rating. Easy to spin or skip the tires if you aren't careful and do not know how to properly accelerate the vehicle to avoid it.

General Comments:

Great car overall!

Manual transmission or the CVT Transmission is recommended for this beauty to fully appreciate the acceleration aspect of the vehicle.

The Blue-tooth accessory that is included on the GTS model is a very very nice addon for today's society as well. Many areas are now making it illegal to drive while on a handset, so with the blue-tooth it makes life much easier.

Handling in the GTS is much better than one would expect with the amount of acceleration it has. One can easily take a turn doing 60 without effort, and even push it up to 80 or more with a little effort in stabilization.

When at/over 4000 rpm, the GTS just wants to go. You can easily find yourself exceeding speed limits without realizing it, which makes for a quick trip, and quite a few friends with the local police force.

Granted, this car doesn't have the power, handling, or luxury of the Evo X or the Raliart, but for the top normal Lancer model, it exceeds many of the expectations.

2008 Mitsubishi Lancer ES 2.0 MIVEC from North America

Summary:

Best Lancer Ever

Faults:

Power steering went out at just 380 miles due to a leaky rack and pinion. Mitsubishi dealer service said that this was weird, but this happens sometimes to any brand new car of any brand, if you're really lucky to buy the lemon of the batch.

They gave me a free rental car while they were fixing it, but I had to return the lancer due to financing issues. But I went to another dealer and bought another 08 lancer. I'm just at 450 miles with this new one, and so far, nothing wrong with the car.

General Comments:

The 08 lancer has killer looks. It doesn't look like an economy car anymore. Nose like a jetfighter/volvo s40, rear like a lexus is300. Powerful engine, excellent handling, smooth CVT transmission, nice sound system. Mitsubishi has a 10 year/100,000 mile warranty, and I believe in their cars. I think I was just unlucky to buy a defective one. I've always liked Mitsubishi Lancers, from the lancer GSRs from way back in the late 70's when I was growing up in Southeast Asia, to the present EVO rally car.

I bought the '08 ES with a 5-speed 2 weeks and currently have 800 miles and so far so good. I like how the mivec kicks in at about 3k. My only gripe is the thick A-pillar and the huge mirror for a mean blind spot. All in all, I really enjoy this car. I call mine the evo 9.5 but I can't wait to try the new evo X.
