2009 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS 2.4 MiTech from North America

Summary:

Best car in its class, will recommend to anyone!

Faults:

I had a rear pillar on the passenger side that kept popping out. Dealership replaced no problem.

General Comments:

Performance wise this car is quick for a 2.4 CVT. Compared to other cars, it blows them out.

It is very comfortable. I decided not to go leather as I hate sliding around.

I love all the features; including the bluetooth on the wheel and audio controls.

At night I like the dash lights. The red glow just makes you crazy in a good way.

The car itself looks mean, a lot of people usually ask me about what I think of this car.

I haven't had problems with the paint like others have complained about, I do drive on the highway a lot as I live in the country.

Personally, no one car in that price range is perfect. There will be bound to be somethings that you dislike, and some you like.

I wrote this review and suggest not getting a Lancer unless you go all out on the 3M Protective coat and rock deflector. I have numerous rock chips all throughout my hood and panels, clear coat is fading in the back passenger side. Fighting with Mitsubishi on this, this should not be happening on a 6 month old car. I regret buying this 100%. Probably going to trade it in for another manufacture all together and take the loss.

2009 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS 2.4 I4 DOHC from North America

Summary:

I wouldn't buy this car if I were you

Faults:

From about 5000 miles, I started getting lots of scratches just everywhere. There are even rock chips on the hood. Now I have 9000 miles on it, and you just name any part, I've got chips or scratches anywhere. The paint job of this car is horrible.

Also, I started hearing weird noise since 2000 miles. It kind of sounds like small steel ball rolling on rough flour. It happens on 4th, 5th gear, from 1500-2000rpm if I push the gas pedal more than half way.

General Comments:

The car looks really nice. The design of it is really creative, aggressive. It just gets attention from everybody when driving on the street.

Even though the horsepower of the engine (168hp) is not super high, it goes from 0-60 really quick. It also handles great. The car just reacts pretty quick.

However, it's really easy to get wheel hop with this car. I've never pushed the gas pedal more than half way on 1st gear, because it would wheel hop crazily if I do that. And if it happens a lot, it's gonna harm your front axle severely.

I've been noticing lots of comments on many brands of vehicles lately on bad paint. I think it has to do with the new government regulations banning the good old durable paints and making us get more environmentally friendly alternatives. I haven't been able to figure out which companies may be doing a better job meeting the new rules without sacrificing durability. But if anyone is thinking Brand X is better because their 3 year old car has perfect paint, forget it. Past history does not count when the rules have all been changed.
