1996 Mitsubishi Montero SR 3.5 from North America

Summary:

Tough, and runs forever

Faults:

Rear hinges, water temp sensor, turn signal switch.

General Comments:

Have owned 3, and they have been the most reliable vehicles I've ever owned. Basically have done nothing to them.

BTW, any moron can change the plugs. It's easy... $400... whatever!

1996 Mitsubishi Montero LS 3.0 from North America

Summary:

Very reliable and comfortable

Faults:

Idle motor replaced at 95k miles.

Spark plug and wires replaced at 120k miles.

No other repairs needed.

General Comments:

This SUV has been very reliable. No major repair has been required; just regular oil changes. Ample storage space in the back with the 3rd row seat up. Drives very well on the highways, and handles well on snow with 4WD. We have been to Montana, California twice, Nevada twice and have not had any problem. Still running strong. I think 96 Monteros (not Montero Sport) are the best built Monteros.
