2003 Mitsubishi Montero Sport LS 3.0 from North America

Summary:

A vehicle is only as good as the dealer's service and manufacturer's warranty, and this one stinks!

Faults:

Bought it 3/29/03. On 4/1/03 it would not engage in Drive.

This happened 6 more times in the first 25 days of ownership.

On 4/10/03, the vehicle would not start.

General Comments:

We purchased this vehicle because we liked the looks. A nightmare from day one, and the dealer and the regional rep were obnoxious and arrogant. They did nothing to repair the vehicle.

We went through the lemon law and won a total refund. At the exchange, the rep tried to get us to sign our title over without filling out the buyer information. We refused. This is a way for Mitsubishi to bypass the title being stamped as a lemon. We called Consumer Protection, who finally told the rep they would hand the case over to the state attorney general, so they agreed to put 'Mitsubishi Motors' as the 'buyer' on the title. Beware of this company and their practices.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

As this buyer said it had happened a few times, I'm sure he had pressed the brake to get it in gear before. Your simplistic defence of this issue makes no sense to me.

When he drove it off the lot for the first time, he would have had to depress the brake to get it in gear.

You really think that they would have bought it back as a lemon if that was the only trouble?

Wake up and smell the dealership trying to do a weasel on this issue.
