1994 Mitsubishi Verada KS Xi from Australia and New Zealand - Comments

"Excellent value for money compared to similar cars"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Rear main oil seal needed replacing at 115,000kms. Very expensive ($700) to repair.

1 electric window needed a new regulator at around the same time. Also very expensive ($400 just for the part!)

General comments?

This is a fabulous car to drive - smooth, responsive, powerful and very sure on the road.

It's not terrible quick off the mark, maybe due to it's weight, but on the highway you can't beat it for comfort or power.

Understeer and skidding can be a problem, again maybe due to it's weight?

The woodgrain trim is a bit over the top, but the leather seats hardly showed a mark on them after 8 years.

All bells and whistles worked without a problem, which, after having owned an old top-of-the-range Nissan which had temperamental windows/cruise etc was lovely.

It's not a very exciting car to look at - most people mistake it for a Magna.

Chews juice quite quickly on hilly terrain, but highway driving produced much better economy.

Not a roomy car, either inside or boot-wise. Wouldn't recommend it as a family car if you have a few kids. This is ultimately why we sold it.

Hi, I just purchased A 92 verada with only 81,000k. I'm hoping it will treat me well as it has only had one owner.

I love the ride and power and it is well equipped.

I have recently purchaced a 1993 KR Verada Wagon. Having previously owned and been fairly happy with a 1992 TR 2.6 Magna Wagon I was quite pleased to find the Verada which is in excellent condition despite having now covered 191000km.

I like the wagon as it has ample room and is a good design. The Verada is a 3.0L V6 which is far better than the Magna's 2.6L four cylinder. I am going for a run in the country this monday to assess the highway fuel consumption, but after 4 days of ownership I am heading for about 500km covered on a tank of fuel city cycle, which is reasonable for a heavy 3.0 v6.

I have a 1993 Verada with 250000 kms on the clock, well looked after and going extremely well. However I am concerned that these cars have a tendency to throw auto transmissions in later life... there is a slight thump coming from the trans when it's still cold and coming to a stop at the lights. Should I hold onto it or sell it before the transmission gives up? Any thoughts?
