1995 Nissan 240SX 2.4 liter from North America

Summary:

Excellent value for looks and reliability

Faults:

Clutch lasted 121,000 miles, which I think is excellent. Replaced with a kevlar coated racing clutch, which was not a difficult task according to the mechanic.

The starter had to be replaced at or around 95,000 miles, which I also thought was to be expected.

The air bag light stays on continuously since 60,000 miles.

Brake pads seem to last a long time on this car. Only had to be changed at 90,000.

The check engine light came on periodically after 80,000 miles, but now stays on indefinitely. I am told this may be due to a faulty oxygen sensor.

Neither light affects anything as far as driving safety goes.

The car has struts on all 4. These wore out fairly early on... 75,000. I have not replaced these because they are very very expensive (perhaps moreso than the cars current value). The ride is a little stiff and makes a harsh noise over speedy bumps (especially in cold weather) but this is bearable.

Speakers (the stock originals) pop and crack and need to be replaced, but are still usable if you lower the bass and treble.

General Comments:

This is an excellent car for reliability and looks. Gas mileage is also very good. It's an every day driver that doesn't require a lot of money for fixes. I change the oil every 3,000 miles and have since it was new. I think that extends the life of the car as much as anything.

1995 Nissan 240SX SE 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Sporty styling with great handling

Faults:

Steering fluid leak, which was easily fixed.

Windshield washer fluid container leaked, difficult and relatively expensive to fix.

A low front piece under the front bumper looks good, but keeps getting caught on curbs and low dips in driveways. I could remove it, but it looks too good.

General Comments:

Had a 1992 240SX and loved it. Sold it to buy a Chrysler which I hated. Bought another 240SX and enjoy it every day.

Handles beautifully, especially with new Cooper Lifeliner tires which eliminate the squirrelly startups on wet pavement (Florida weather).

1995 Nissan 240SX 2.4 L from North America

Summary:

I love this sporty, classy, pretty car

Faults:

After about 4 months of having it, the head blew, and was very expensive. It was kind of my fault that it got that bad, but the water pump went out first which is what eventually led to the head going too.

After that, there were really no problems, except I did have to replace the calipers and strut bar (was making a really bad noise when it went over bumps and things).

I still love it though, and consider it very reliable.

General Comments:

My 240sx is very sporty and classy looking. It has been compared to a Lexus, and a lot of people comment on how great it looks. It is definitely one of my very favorite cars.

With a little more added under the hood (and a little more to the body, it does need a paint job. The clear coat is "bubbling" more and more every day, I swear), it would be an even hotter car, and I recommend it to anyone. Great car!!

1995 Nissan 240SX SE 2.4L from North America

Summary:

Since Nissans depreciate heavily and are still well built, used car buyers are getting a great deal

Faults:

Right wheelbearing was going bad; the previous owner lowered the suspension so that may have caused or affected it. My mechanic has checked it bumper to bumper and says it's superb.

General Comments:

I love this car. After 100,000 miles the engine still purrs like a kitten. Producing 160lbs-ft it has plenty of passing power.

Please note: The SE trim is worth every extra penny.
