I got the car recently, so I had no problems with it yet.
It has a few problems, though:
- Front shock absorbers are totally out of service
- The front-right bearings are a little noisy.
I bought this car from a guy who had it for the last 14 years, he was the 2nd owner of the car.
This is my first car and I absolutely love it.
Because this is such a rare model here in Romania, I had to search for a year until I found one.
Except the problems I mentioned, everything else is working fine on the car.
The engine runs great, it starts very easily in the mornings.
My Laurel has the old LD28 engine; it is not very good uphills, but I'm sure this is because of the automatic transmission.
The paintwork is still the original one, without any rust. I was surprised when the previous owner told me that he didn't had a garage for the car.
Because the front shock absorbers are not working, the handling is pretty bad, especially on bumpy roads.
For spare parts, I have another Laurel, a C31 from '84, with the same LD28 engine.
I am thinking to take the shock absorbers from my old C31 and put it on the C32.
Does anybody know if this is possible? Please leave a comment here. :)
Good day to you in Romania wonderful story about the Laurel
The front shocks from monroe or the orginal are the best for this C32.
I have traveled 535.000km with my first c32 diesel with the same LD 2,8 motor.
Now I'm searching for Laurel C31 parts difficult t get these day, s.
My search is two front wings and the exhaust system it, s a 2,8 LD engine 1983 and automatic transmission.
Do you know something? (new or used parts)

Hi and sorry for the late reply:)
About parts: I didn't tried to search for body parts yes, since I don't really need any, only a new fron mask... until now I was searching in a few scrapyards, but couldn't find any Laurel... mainly because this model was never imported to Romania, I think...
But I was able to find easily things like fuel, oil and air filters, which I already replaced, and also I changed brake pads until now.
In 2 monnths since I have the car, I did about 4500 kilometers with it, and didn't touched anyhing on it.
But now the front of the car is a mess, very very noisy but I hope I can solve the shock absorber problem this week, and also replace the ball joing and a front bearing.
Having said this, I think reliability is very very good, morning starts at -5, -10 are piece of cake, just 2 key turn and that's is... just like my friend's Golf 5 TDI...
Can't wait to solve these little problems and enjoy the great handling of the car...
One thing is concerning me at the moment: it seems to me that the gearbox does a lot of changing back, when pushing harder... I am thinking that maybe a flush and an oil change should help this. I check the oil in it, is nice orange, but I don't know when it was changed the last time and I don't even know how often it should be changed.
Just one question: I have a little swich on the console behind the gear stick: is that for Overdrive? It is better to keep it on or off?
Having said these, I will return with further updates as soon as I can.
A nice day to everyone reading this :) And don't forget to comment if you have anything to say:)
Hi again :)
I repaired the front of the car this weekend.
I changed both the shock absorbers and the springs.
I took them from my C31 Laurel and they fitted perfectly.
I also checked the bushes, but I found no problems. The ball joints are OK, the bearings too, I only had to clean them and put them back.
Now the car handles extremely well, I'm very very pleased with it.
After all this, I can say that the car is in 99% working condition.
I love it!
I have Nissan Laurel 1983 model, still in very good condition and very strong, but the only problem is the back wheel shock absorbers. Can any one give an idea if there are numbers or code to ask at the shop when I want to buy? Thank you all.
Hi,
When I asked for Laurel parts at the shop, I told them the
Car model (Nissan Laurel) and the year is was made (e.g. 1986). Also, if you know the engine code, maybe it could be useful (LD28 in my case, for the 2800 cmc diesel engine) and the codename for the car, e.g. C31, C32 etc. If yours is from 1983, probably is a C31.

I'm the original reviewer of the car.
The clock is now showing ~228.000 km, 8000 since I bought the car. Since I changed the front shocks, I had no problems with the car, I only had to adjust the valves once. That's all.
My only problem is that I hit a deer; I can't find a replacement headlamp. The dealer would charge me 400 euros for one. Ridiculous!
Greetings everyone!
I'm the proud owner of a '86 Laurel SGL with LD28 engine and 4g automatic transmission. it's a great car, very comfortable and solid.
I just think it's a little slow..
So my question is: Can the automatic transmission stand the torque of a RD28 TD engine? does anyone have experience with this?
I love this car so if there's any chance that it might not work out I won't try it.

I have owned my 1987 Nissan Laurel SGX since new. It has done only 70,000 Miles (I had a business and used my van mostly), but the underside has let me down (the seals are going). Anyone know where I might sell the Stainless steel Exhaust I had made for it?
Hello, I have a NISSAN LAUREL C34 R28 1993 MODEL, which is a imported model from NZ. The car was imported into UK in 1999. The car drives very good for its age, and has covered 260,000 KM up to now.
Now the car is in need of a NEW REAR SHOCK ABSORBER, but I can not find any in UK. DOES any one know of any other car model which is the same, or the part number of a replacement?
Thanks, Mash.
