1997 Nissan Pathfinder 6 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Great reliable comfortable and stylish

Faults:

I have had the typical wheel balancing issues with this car as stated in other reviews. It seems that the wheels have this problem and need to be rotated often.

General Comments:

I have the 2 wheel drive model. I once got lost on some trails that really should have only been attempted by a 4X4. My Pathfinder was able to get me out of the most hideous spots and home safe and sound. It hugs the ground and rock beautifully, climbs well and gets through washes and cattle trails like a pro! Sort of a wannabe 4X4 :)

1997 Nissan Pathfinder EX 3.3 from North America

Summary:

An overall great ride!

Faults:

After 100,000 plus miles I replaced the brakes twice and front struts.

Still looks brand new! Just a few dents on the exterior.

General Comments:

This a great truck that is still able to compete with today's SUVs.

1997 Nissan Pathfinder LE 3.3 from North America

Summary:

Worst car I have ever owned in my life

Faults:

This SUV is terrible. I have never in my life had a worse car than this. That's including a 1986 Honda CRX that had 156K miles on it. I Have had in one year over 10 problems. From brakes, to starter, to shocks, to exhaust, to speedometer and all the way back to brakes again. And I know I am forgetting somethings. Don't waste your money on this SUV. It also has really bad gas mileage.

General Comments:

This car had bad handling and shocks go out like everytime you turn around. Bad gas mileage. No power. Loud engine noise. Bad radio and speakers. The ONLY positive thing I have to say about this car is it has good room in the back. But that is standard for an SUV. Everything else is terrible.

You stated that you aquired the car with 75 thousand miles. Think about how the previous owner may have treated the car. Sometimes when you buy a used car you don't know what you are getting. That is why I buy brand new, because I know how to care for my vehicles. Unfortunately some people just put gas and drive. They never even check their fluid levels.

1997 Nissan Pathfinder SE 3.3 from North America

Summary:

Solid performer with style

Faults:

Nothing mechanically has gone wrong with this vehicle. However, the moonroof sunshade has fallen off it's track as a result of the metal clips snagging and breaking. Am trying to locate a used one since the dealer would really love to charge me over $400 to repair!! Come on, It's a piece of cardboard with some felt on it!!

General Comments:

This is one great vehicle. Feels very solid for it's mileage. Like the exterior and interior design. Does not look dated.

Very nice sound system.

Very comfortable on long trips. Like the heated leather seats.

Fairly decent pick-up, but very poor gas mileage. Most SUV's are not, so whatcha gonna do.

Great value for what I paid.

1997 Nissan Pathfinder Ti 3.5 from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

For the right price a great car for on and off road trips

Faults:

Oil pressure switch, auto transmission started making some strange sounds when in P or N yet to be looked at by the dealer under an extended warranty agreement.

General Comments:

Car is nice, good off road as well as on however we did find this varied depending on tires. Original tires where HT, and we opted to put Pirrelli Scorpion AT on it. The road noise improvement was remarkable.

On a downside, cabin room for rear passengers (if their adults) is not comfortable. Fuel consumption is shocking, with approx 450km city driving (that's when the orange light comes on anyway).

Lots of engine noise close to 3000rpm and above.

1997 Nissan Pathfinder LE 3.3 Gas from Puerto Rico

Summary:

A good SUV for the price paid

Faults:

I had to replace the Shocks, front and Rear twice.

The brake pads don't last more than 20000 miles.

I had a sensor in the Intake Manifold that lights every once in a while, but it goes off with a good race on the highway.

Had to replace the factory radio since it liked to get the CD stuck in the loading mechanism.

General Comments:

Very good SUV,

It has a lot of power when you need it.

It gives you 16 to 19 miles per gallon.

The other cost have been in general maintenance.

Great Braking, it had help me in avoiding 2 traffic accident.

Very good for transporting cargo inside and in the top racks.
