1987 Nissan Pulsar NX XE 1.6 e16i from North America

Summary:

Amazing, cheap, headturning awesomeness

Faults:

The only thing that I have had go wrong is an alternator when I first got her.

General Comments:

This is by far the best car I have or will ever own. I bought it for $500 and have put $200 in it since just in an alternator.

I have put over 35,000 miles on it this year alone, driving it over a hundred miles a day to school, and 400 every other weekend.

It's awesome on gas; about 45 highway, and turns heads everywhere. I go I can't fill it up with gas without getting a comment on it.

1987 Nissan Pulsar NX from North America

Summary:

The car is a fast, well balanced fuel efficient car.

Faults:

The spring on the driver's side door is broken.

One of the bars in the driver's seat is also broken.

General Comments:

The car is actually faster then what most sites say it goes. As I can hit 60 in about 10-12 seconds, but after 75 it starts slowing up, (i mean it doesn't pick up speed as fast as it was).

I bought this car for $500 and it was well worth it.

The car looks perfect and drives great.

I still own the car and it is still running perfect and I wouldn't trade the car for anything. Reminds me of my Dodge Shadow es, except the Nissan Pulsur nx is faster.

I get about 40 miles per gallon as well which is always a plus in any car.

1987 Nissan Pulsar SE from North America

Summary:

Its fun, reliable, good on gas and built to last

Faults:

Other than normal maintenance items to be expected during the 18 years I've owned it, I've had two problems. Both times, it was the same part - something in the ignition - and they occurred 8 years apart. I've spent a total of $800 on non-maintenance type repairs in 18 years. I think I've gotten my money's worth!

I also had to replace the cassette player. I replaced it with a CD player, but kept the original speakers.

General Comments:

I've had my car 18 years and its as fun to drive today as it was the day I bought it. It handles well and although it is fine on the highways, the back roads are where it really excels. Its low center of gravity allows it to corner tightly and it responds quickly to changes.

In addition to being fun to drive, it has been a very dependable and reliable car. It was built to last - I even still have the original clutch in the car!

I still get between 35 - 38 mpg around town and 42 - 45 on the open highway.

I recently bought a new 2005 Nissan, which I also really like, but I've held onto my Pulsar. I can't seem to let go of the key... someone may have to pry my fingers open to get it.

1987 Nissan Pulsar 1.6 from North America

Summary:

Can't go wrong for a daily beater

Faults:

Fuel sender replaced.

New Rack and Pinion at 125000.

Both half-shafts.

All speakers blown out.

Waterpump at 125K.

Next to fix: Heater core and oil leak.

General Comments:

Cool looking, cheap car that I don't worry about too much, but is fun to drive running errands. My family bought the car new in '86, when the '87 model first came out, and my sister drove it in college, and then my mom, dad and youngest brother both drove it for many more years, and now I just took it over. I have gone over the car, and replaced anything that needed to be done, including new hi-performance speakers for the cd player, rack and pinion, timing belt and waterpump, and went a step further to lower it 2 inches, add 17 inch wheels with 40 series tires, paint the rear hatch to match the still shinny white paint. (The white cars came with a dark grey trunk, that made it look like a part off another car.) It has an oil leak, and from what I am gathering, the engine and transmission need to come out of the car in order to reseal the pan..........I'll get around to that later.
