1997 Nissan Terrano II Ti turbo diesel from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Very impressive 4WD

Faults:

Air Flow Meter has failed at 120000km.

General Comments:

The Terrano 2 performs like a bigger 4WD and will go anywhere.

Very comfortable and good to drive on road and off road.

4WD performance very impressive, handling terrain that stuck Jeep and Landcruisers.

Great size, same length as full 4WD, but 1/2 seat narrower and lighter.

Very nice car and very reliable.

1997 Nissan Terrano II Ti 2.7 intercool turbo from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Good all rounder 4WD for the family

Faults:

Radio makes interference noise through radio station which is coming from the C. D player.

Lack of power could be from air flow mass sensor dirty, clean, make sure air cleaner is change every 12 months.

Accelerator pedal sticking, pull apart and clean and clean all wire connections to accelerator pedal assembly.

General Comments:

Neat compact 4WD capable of doing what the big 4WD's can do if not better.

The Nissan Terrano II should have been recalled to fix the problems that most Terrano owner's are having.

Apart from the little problems it is a fantastic medium size 4WD.

1997 Nissan Terrano II TI 2.8 turbo intercooled diesel from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Terrific Terrano but let down by poor marketing in Australia

Faults:

The Nissan Terrano II (TI Diesel) which I purchased in 1997 has had no mechanical or trim problems at all. It has only been to the dealer for its regular 5000kms interval servicing. It consistently returns fuel consumption figures of about 12 litres per 100 kms. and even as low as 10 on long extended highway trips as it comfortably cruises on 100+ kmph in its (overdrive) 5th. gear.

General Comments:

Excellent design, great value for money and economical to run. A most under-rated 4wd - it is easy to see why it is, as either the Nissan Terrano or Ford Maverick as it is sometimes badged in Europe, the top selling 4wd in most of Europe.

By the way whilst Mitsubishi make a great song and dance about the Paris/Dakar Rally and the might of the Pajero - the Nissan Terrano is the next best performed mass production 4wd (2 factory entries finished in the top 10 last year).
